Oh well... I guess we dropped one rung on the ladder of success. I like it a lot better where we are now. Frankly, we fit in a lot better.

We had accumulated assets through smart (and lucky) investing and real estate transactions that enabled us to live there, but we didn't have the high powered jobs and incomes that many around us had in the "Elites". We are much more comfortable where we are now. We may be a bit on the high side of the demographic, but that is preferable in my opinion to being on the low side.

By the way... our segments were:

    Gray Power
    Home Sweet Home
    New Empty Nests
    Pools and Patios
    Young Influentials

As Anaheim said, that is a pretty accurate read. Our present suburb is a mature suburb with an upper middle income older population that is turning over to the “Young Influentialsâ€. Actually, I find it a pretty nice mix for people our age.

Odd. We don't fall into any of those catagories!

This is pretty accurate for a city just voted the #2 place to live in the US in Money Magazine and has been in the top 10 in fortune and #1 place to raise a kid 2 years in a row. 2003- 2004.
Has all the quality demographics - median incomes, & 78% of adult population with college degree ( almost 30% masters + ) - -- without the snob apppeal of the north shore (i.e. Lake Forest) here.

I clicked on Mayberry-ville and for Lifestyle it said:

    Lifestyle Traits:
    Eat at Cracker Barrel
    Own a satellite dish
    Read Field & Stream
    Watch NASCAR Winston Cup
    Drive a full-size Ford pickup

OMG! That is my brother (who lives next door to me) to a T !

I don't see the Bohemian mix at all, except maybe as an overflow from Venice Beach.

Sadly, DW and I do not fit in any of these catagories, but our humble condo does sit in the shadow of a small mountain containing those folks.

We did purchase almost 6 years ago and could now sell, leave O/C, and buy a mansion elsewhere. But, it would have to be too far from DLR.
