I wish we had darkbeer here, he wouldve done a huge tally of all the discounts, ticketing promotions and perks this park has given out over the years by now ;).

You know, I'm not sure I would bother to go even then.

Kind of a long train ride from town and all. :p

So, you could watch the fireworks at park closing, and then still sit down afterward in a restaurant and be served a 3-course meal. I'm not sure if this is unique to HKDL, but it's the only time I've noticed such a thing.

We had to wait near the African Outpost as they raised the bridge to get the globe barge back to the marina for the night, which was something few guests will ever see. I think there were a couple more families there too, but we were pretty much the only people in the park. It was a very neat experience, to say the least.

One reason the after-hours sit-down restaurant at HKDL surprised me so much is that I'm so used to not being able to get food when I want it in a Disney theme park. It seems that all too often, the place I want to go during the last hour or two of the day is already closed. I'm sure they have the historical data to support closing food outlets early, but it sometimes surprises me that I have a hard time spending money for expensive in-park food because most places are closed.

But you can forget about a walkup during regular hours (might be different if you show up at Japan at 9:40 on an EMH when park 'closed' at 9).

But NO EPCOT location will seat you after closing unless you had a ressie and they were running way behind. None.
I know I have closed down a few places at EPCOT. I also have been rushed out of a few places (Morocco and Canada come to mind) on non-EMH nights when I have had an 8:30 or 8:40 reservation. No, I don't want to see the dessert menu when you are taking away my salad plates.

    Oops ... rant off.

At the place I'm referring to in HKDL, they handled this very professionally. The park closed at 8, so fireworks were done by 8:15. They seated us then, explained that "last order" was 8:30 and they wanted everyone to leave by 9, exactly one hour after park close and when everything else on Main Street would close. It was perfect for us, as we ordered the prix fixe menu which included soup/salad, entree, and dessert, so they could bring everything at the proper pace. Also, although table service, it was still theme park food and could be eaten in that amount of time - the places at Epcot are different in that regard in that the sit-down restaurants in World Showcase are closer to regular restaurants in the real world than theme park restaurants, so you probably want to take a bit longer for your meal.

Certainly a good place to eat if your in the company of people who may not share your interest in food.

It definitely looked good and the prices were reasonable too.
