I was expecting them to get cancelled at any point (I've seen them stop just after the stretching room portion and just as the POTC part begins too), and every time there was a lull in the action, I kept think they were over. I really enjoyed how long the show lasted, even though it did look like it was starting to get windier. It appeared that they stopped using the launch points at the Plaza Pavilion and Golden Horsehoe after the stretching room part (since the wind was blowing to the north east), but other than that I don't think much else changed. I would guess that they planned on cancelling the show at the end of the Laughing Place part, but wanted to get the beginning of Tomorrowland in to make the show longer. Since it's just the laser then, they were able to add another minute or so to the length before cutting it. Either way, I was pleasantly surprised to get to see any of the show, let alone nearly the entire thing. All we missed out on was Star Tours and the Finale. I was there on Friday night, which seemed to be less windy (watching the tops of trees) than last night, but they completely cancelled the show. That was sad, because I was with a friend who brought her mom from Maryland to see it (while she was visiting in general too), and she didn't get to see any of it.

We just sat back, finished our churros and let the crowds clear out.

By no means was anybody I saw upset, but there still was that collective groan when they made the announcement, followed by mumbling about how they wanted to see the end. Since the show was almost to the end anyway, it seemed like they were more OK with it ending early. And the crowds are a lot more difficult to navigate after it's been cancelled rather than after the end...not really sure why.

I know it's because the Remember ones are a lot closer to people and things that could catch on fire, but it always gets a good reaction from the crowd!

The Angels launch theirs from past the outfield, which is a much greater distance between the hoardes of people and the explosives. They are also higher up, so strong wind is less likely to blow the burning bits back into people's faces, as they will have time to cool down first. They are also controlled by different technicians, who ultimately make the decision of what is and isn't safe. Remember can be a very dangerous show if done under the wrong conditions, so they try to error on the side of caution.

Disneyland's fireworks are launched from a much more confined space backstage. You have the 5 freeway right there, Ball Rd, and the packed theme park itself just to the south of where they launch them. All that means they have to have much tighter rules to have the show.
