Well, I'm not going to the Police but got great seats for Genesis in SJ...better than the 'hot seat' ticket...what a joke. TM also has auctions, where suckers,,err, people can bid on seats. What a money-making scam. G is also playing at the Hollywood bowl, so I'll be there, as well, when tickets go onsale. I have such an understanding wife. Anyway, the point is...what the heck has happened to ticket prices for some of these groups. I don't think it's the groups, themselves, as much as the greedy promoters. Anyway, just wondering if anyone has actually been as dumb as me and paid $500 for 2 tickets to anything in their lives. Oh, and of course, there's always Ebay, where seats way back from me are going for $1000. I guess it's true: there's a sucker born every minute.

About five or six years ago the average price for concerts I was going to was about $90 a ticket, now practically all of them are closer to $200 and sometimes more. Ticket prices are getting ridiculous but unfortunately if it's a favourite performer of mine, I find it terribly easy to justify (I don't go to that many concerts, I might never get a chance to see them again, it'll be worth it!) The good news is it always HAS been worth it.

That's what I did! My Police tickets go on presale this morning at 10am (PST) - please wish me luck. I am only going for the $50 seats - I know what this band looks like so I don't care too much to waste money for front row seats. They will sound the same no matter where I sit. I was hoping that someone would buy them for me for my birthday, but since this isn't a "milestone" age for me this year, I didn't beg for them!

And, dave, I don't complain about ticket prices at DL and this is why.. On the average I would be at DL park for about 12 hours....12 divided by $63 equals $5.25 an hour....That is a great return for my money as far as I'm concerned. Of course, if we are talking about the price of parking, that's a whole different story. Not to hijack this topic, but you can't tell me that it is necessary to pay $11 or so to park a vehicle??? I'm sure the lot is already paid for. And the price of admission to DL can surely pay the parking attendant's salaries.

Sometimes, if you go back an hour or so later, all of a sudden more tix appear. But, The Polic tix are selling like crazy. They've already added a couple of extra tour dates. So, are you going to buy tix when the general sale goes up? If so, good luck. >>My late husband paid about that much for us to see Billy Joel and Elton John in Las Vegas. They were the best seats I've ever had for a concert, I will say that.<< Well, if they were the best seats you've ever had, then it was totally worth it. I guess my problem is this: I equate a ticket to a 2.5 hour show to a year at DL. It seems silly to spend that much just for one evening. But, I guess when the band you enjoy have not played together for 15 years and they're going to play(from their interview) a bunch of '70's stuff that I love, I just can't miss it. But to go twice...well, I guess that's a sign of my obsession. Thank goodness I don't have to make a choice between a year at DL and a 3.5 hour show. We don't have kids so can afford both. AND DAVE...A METALLICA FAN? That's cool. Man, you learn something new about people here, every day. >>but you can't tell me that it is necessary to pay $11 or so to park a vehicle??? HP pavilion parking(where the concert is)is $15. But, we found a nice hotel within walking distance. So, hey, that might cover the cost of 1/2 a Genesis t-shirt.

Yes -- and I have one more in me -- Cubs World Series tickets game 1 @ Wrigley Field - and heck parking may be $500 for that one

So to answer your question. Yes people are willing to pay so the bands are going to charge as much as they want I have a feeling i will see a post 10 years from now "do you remember when tickets were only $200" Times have changed people
