My wife and I plan to take our three boys to Disneyland next month for just one day. (We’re taking a longer trip in January when it is less crowded.) It is not very economical to go for just one day but it is what it is. Interested in saving some money we checked EBAY. We noticed that EBAY is full of auctions where people seem to be offering part of their own hopper tickets. They want your cell number and the tickets back at the end of the day. Sounds kind of shady to me but there are a lot of people doing it. You can save a lot of money doing this but it makes me nervous. Has anyone tried it? What has your experience been? Would you recommend it?

Hoppers are non transferable, they also expire in a short period, and you would have to maintain a close relationship with the seller. Definately not worth it for me. Better to save up and go when you can aford it, or pay the prices.

So lets say a 5 day is $200 - they will and they are selling each day for $60 they are making a $100 profit off each ticket and they usually are selling multiple tickets!!

My sister and her friend were each going to DL last February - My sister got there on wed went to dl thurs-sat. She had bought her tickets on Getawaytoday and they were 6 day passes. Her friend arrived Sat night and they all went to dinner at the McDonalds and my sister gave the tickets to here friend and they went to the park Sun-Tues.
Was this cheating, well yes - they split the cost of the tickets evenly so there really was no profit but they both ended up with discounted tickets. Now she feels this was okay because she stayed at the DL hotel ate in the parks and bought souvinears (as she could afford the vaca) her friend stayed off property in a cheap motel not near the park, packed food for the day and bought her kids souvinears at the walmart near the park and was barely able to afford that -
My sister felt this was a good way to do it since her friends kids had never been and probably wouldn't have the chance again for a long time.

The single-day passes are transferable but the multi-day passes aren't? Yes, I get the economics of it but it's still a drag for people who want to go for just one day. $66 for a single day non-hopper is absurd.

That cannot be.

The hoppers are cheaper than day tickets to encourage people to go to the resort for longer durations.

But really, Disney isn't "forcing" people to resort to tactics like reselling days of a multi-day pass. That's obviously wrong.

Also, if you notice, the eBay sellers ALWAYS block out the actual ticket number (bar code), because Disney does search eBay and will void any ticket they can identify by its number. Why, because it is against the terms of the ticket, aka non-transferable.

By the way, when did WDW start using biometric scanners? Sounds like that would pretty-much eliminate fraud if people have to scan their finger print before entering. That also eliminates the fear of a lost multi-day ticket. Interesting. Any talk about bringing that out west?
