Sorry guys, but this was just NOT up to what they hyped it to be. People seem to be transfixed w/ the mountain ITSELF and surrounding themeing, cause there is NO bite here. Then u go backwards in the DARK. NO THEMEMING, NO FX, NO AUDIO. Then comes the LAME projection of the Yeti shadow tearing up the track. And if u sit in the front seat u can SEE the track switch!! BAD SHOW!!! At least MUMMY has a curtain tham comes down to cover that! Then u go into more lame darkness and THERE HE IS. The LARGEST AA ever done by WDI and........................................

U BLOW BY HIM AT TOP SPEED. Barely anytime to SEE WHAT he looks like, his movements, etc etc. And its over. And the kicker is that the ENTRANCE to the store is RIGHT THERE at the unload platform!!! NO BUFFER OR ANYTHING!! Talk about Disney wanting yer money! I dont know WHAT has happened to Joe Rhode. This is CERTAINLOY not up to par. There are NO FX. and NO other theming in the rooms where the show scenes happen. NO SNOW. NO ISCICLES. NOTHING. And WHY would WDI spend MILLIONS on an AA to have u go by it at 55mph?? This does NOT bode well for WDI in the future. This wasnt even THUNDER, MUMMY or the even the MATTERHORN.

For example the lighting instruments in Splash Mt are not hidden form view or in The Great Movie Ride either. So this is not the worse disney has done. And yes Disney is thinking about a blocker for the stop where the very expensive projection of the Yeti is done with 5 projectors and a $4500 scrim curtain to project on to. Most of the track switching cant be done while hidden due to space restrictions on the ride.

That said, I sure hope this isn't a style over substance deal. Kali River does have an amazing queue and a Six Flags raft ride at the end.

I know they pulled the money out of Kali's original budget (think rafting past live Tigers) with large drops. I'd hate to think they did the same here.

I think it looks great, but not the best Disney could offer. Spiderman or Indy seem like better attractions at first glace.

Is that right? Thanks for the tip! I love this stuff, and I'll pay attention next time.

Most everyone else on the train was paying attention to the projection effects, where the video and sound masked any technical goings-on.

By going by so fast, you take the terror out of a scarey situation, but still keep scarey. Little kids can stand a brief roll-by encounter with such a scarey thing when there is no opportunity for the Yeti to advance. The Yeti is not intended to be "savored."

Can you imagine the terror you could generate in some if the train were sitting stock-still in that room and have the Yeti advance on the train?

Re-rideability -- You have to go back and watch more closely to appreciate the Yeti the next time.

Realism -- If you can sit and watch a special effect over time you can start to notice the reality and that it might be an effect. You notice this most on an attraction that's stopped and you have to sit in the same position for the same effect over and over again. Whistling by the Yeti retains it's realism.

There's not even a chance of being stuck in the same room with the Yeti during a 101 ride stop. There are no brakes at this location.

See, I think it would be cool to have the train stop dead on the track and have the yeti, kind of charge at it and sort of "bat" at the train...I'm disappointed to hear that the encounter with the yeti is brief and at top speed. As far as scary goes, again until you've been there and done that it's hard to know. The suspense could be building from the queue area so that by the time we meet Steve the Yeti a brief encounter might be enough. Perhaps the portion of the attraction that's on screen could have shown Steve attacking a train to show that he could, but then when we get by him we are the lucky ones. That would show us that there is a chance of an attack, but at a distance where kids wouldn't have to be terrified by a huge monster charging towards them!!!
