It's a pretty show, with some impressive water fountains, lighting, strong music and creative use of lasers and projection technology. On the negative side, it's not very cohesive, story wise. It tends to get bogged down in repetition, that is, once we have seen some of this impressive technology, it hits us with another dose of the same thing, and, it becomes a tad monotonous. One of the biggest negatives of the show is the viewing areas. There are some pretty cool areas to view this, namely, center, and toward the back (being "up" on this show helps), however, I have watched WOC from the extreme left and right, and, it is not pretty: projections hard to see, the full effect of the fountains are not realized, and, there are physical elements like oddly placed vine covered overhangs in the viewing area that simply obstruct the view of the show. Don't get me started about viewing WOC from the back: I watched from Toy Story Mania and trust me, it aint pretty. Oh, and the pre-show looks like it was done from the local Junior High. Fantasmic, a show that's been around for well over 10 years now, still dazzles and for me, is the more dominant of the 2 shows. A great use of water projections that are clearly viewable on the sides of the main viewing area and the front (though, front is better, but the sides are nowhere as close to as bad as the side viewing is in WOC). The Peter Pan Pirate ship moment and the final river boat moment are 2 of the greatest live moments in Disney Theme park history. All the other live characters and the stage, the dragon, fire on the water, and, and amazing soundtrack, clearly makes Fantasmic the better of the 2 shows for me. Which do you choose? Why? Ill stand by and read and tally the vote after 100 topics are hit!

F! is pretty much going to be the same even if they upgrade the water floats and some of the technology, same story. F! is pretty epic butWOC has its moments as well! What I would like to see now that most people have seen this show is put a more coherent storyline. True WOC doesn't have a strong one like F! but i did like the concept of something more abstract and if you know me I do not like abstract things but WOC was a hit for me! But i love both so much and wouldn't pit them against one another. Now if you were to have a poll like whats better our F! or disney worlds, or whats better WOC or illuminations, that would be fair game.

More important question for me - Which one tends to be more of a "tv commercial" for Disney's various branded characters - animated or live action? And which one stands on it's own - with enough original elements, and/or new takes on familiar animated features .. and my vote goes to Fantasmic. WoC feels like an ad for their various brands. Like previews prior to the main movie, or TV Commercial. Replaying exact footage, and exact songs from some of their past features, against mist screens. That's not exactly an "inspiring" Presentation/Pageant. But since Fantasmic came along in 1992 .. before "synergy" and "branding" got out of control ... Fantasmic maintains a level of originality that feels more inspiring.

The second time I saw WoC, I walked away before it was even over (and only stayed as long as I did because the wife was interested in it). The amazing effects somehow just aren't enough to keep it from being... dare I say it? ...boring. On the other hand, I think what makes Fantasmic really special is the use of familiar things (Columbia, Mark Twain, TSI) as sets. It's like seeing a haunted house in your neighbor's basement, or a winter wonderland in your church's fellowship hall. The fact that "real" things are dressed up makes it all, weirdly, more magical. Fantasmic in Orlando suffers pretty heavily for the same reason. And yeah, the "25-minute commercial" aspect OC Dean mentions about is a big turn-off with WoC despite the cool effects.

I would rather see Illuminations Reflections of Earth (my fav Disney show ever), Remember Dreams Come True or The Main Street Electrical Parade. I know MSEP has character, but it is different enough. Personally I do not like toon synergy at all.

It's a nice way to relax with the family after going hard all day, athough I wouldn't spend all that time sitting around if I were only there for a day. WoC is not a show for me, it is a fountain with cartoon promos projected on it. It's not worth waiting for but might be interesting to watch in passing, like the Bellagio fountains.
