The computer is about 5 years old and is only used for billing and word and such, no other programs would be running when I am trying to get online. I'd appreciate any thoughts

In your web browser's address bar type 192.168.1.0 and that should get you in (unless I've mis-remembered the IP on these things, lol). Oh! If your wireless "stick" is a USB device, try another port, in case the one you're using isn't working.

If they are both dymamic it's possible that your computer (I'm assuming WinXP) may be holding your home IP in memory and you can clear it by going to the run command and typing "ipconfig /release" and then "ipconfig /renew" (don't include the quotes). I have a few more thoughts but no typing skills. Call my cell if you want.

Well, I COULD go in this weekend, but ya know I'm happy that I will be going in with some ideas. I usually just use the internet for ordering supplies and running credit cards. Just often enough to go nuts when it doesn't work. The home and office computers aren't connected, sorry, I wasn't clear about that. DH's computer (the one with the DSL) is in a separate room at the office and my computer is in the outer office. Deb, I'll check out the router and the port and Shiva you may indeed be getting a phone call LPers are GREAT!!

If 192.168.1.0 didn't work, try 192.168.2.0. Also is there a VOIP adapter or do you use POTS phone service? Also when using the router configuration page use a PC connected with a cable (makes it easier) Now if it's a recognition problem (can't find any networks or the adapter) try unplugging and replugging the stick, or try another USB port. Have you already configured the wireless adapter? Did you use the right security setting (Ie WPSK-2) and make sure all the setting (such as passkey) match exactly. Are you using IP Filtering? Etc? Is this an intermittent problem? Sometimes moving the router or adapter location (Use the USB extension cable that probably came with the adapter) and you may get a better constant signal. Another network/something located in your office or an adjoining office may be causing you to get knocked off. (Ie sometimes a fridge compressor cycling on and off). Also are you using "apples to apples" Ie a Wireless G adapter to a Wireless G router? For example a G router probably won't work very well with an "N" adapter

The computer hates me so I'll print all these great suggestions out at home and go in armed for battle!

Than I hardwired the main computer to the amplified router in the bedroom. it doesnt help that I have 5 Airport express stations throughout the house for music, the 3 AppleTVs, laptop, iPhone and 2 wireless printers all feeding off the network. Man I need to just hardwire the house. Gigabit ethernet FTW!!!!
