Weird, it says Disneyland Half Marathon 2012 won't be available for registration until January 18, but the above link is active for registration. I'm all signed up!

    How's your training been going?

Last year it filled up in February. If you are 100% sure you want to run, I would recommend signing up now.

The $150 price tag is too steep for me this year. RunDisney, you've finally priced me out of your races. Shoot the Boston Marathon is $150...

The kids races doubled in price as well and they kept them in DTD. No thanks - that stunk last year waiting on the asphalt parking lot for hours with young kids and no entertainment. I hope for the sake of the parents that do sign up their kids that RunDisney will at least have something besides a MC with jokes above the heads of most of the 8 & under crowd to help pass the time.

I'm running the Arizona Rock n' Roll this weekend. Even the Expo prices is $115. I signed up back in June and payed only $80.

Mile 10-12 remind me of the DL 1/2. Check out the course map, it's in the official program.
My training is going well--have not stopped like I usually do after the DL 1/2. So I'm hoping for a PB.

At least the kids/parents will have access to the bathrooms and Baby care center for the very young one. We'll see how this one goes before we decide about the kids race 1/2 marathon weekend.
The entry fee is getting very expensive but Disney also know we will it.

FYI, registration doesn't open until Jan 18

For the price, it is steep, but I think it's worth it. I just got back from the WDW Marathon Weekend, and had a great time. I only ran the 2011 DL Half, but it did leave some logistic issues to be desired. I'll be running it again for the coast-to-coast this year, but if they don't figure out a better set-up to load the corrals (really? 2-person-wide walkways for thousands of people to get to their spot in under an hour without potty access?), it will be my last. The WDW set up, although requiring a ton of walking, was much much more enjoyable. Plus the DL course just wasn't that great.

kidz>I loved the RnR Az course, it was fast and flat. The weather is generally perfect for running - Good luck and have fun! (For the RnR races, you can usually register for low cost early or with coupons. It's nice for those of us who run multiple races :))

Ferret> The link is up through active, I guess they posted it, but didn't block the link to the public. I registered last week! I think the WDW races (ran Goofy in 2009) are organized slightly better, but they have a lot more of their own space to work with. I didn't like walking a mile from the drop off area to the start line, as if we weren't walking/running far enough already - haha. It's annoying at DL that they don't have more toilet access by the corrals, like in WDW. I've complained about that in every race survey, but it doesn't seem to change.

just about 2 weeks to go!

However, putting the 5k so late on Friday night and including a twilight ticket in the price also turned me off. I see that turned off plenty of others since it is only 87% full...so if you get the survey after this race, please ask that they move it back to Saturday morning!

Have you heard the horror stories from the Las Vegas RnR? Similar problem with corral placement (along with loads of other problems). I really thinkg that for the price, DL Half should be a top-notch race, and it isn't. I do enjoy the beginning through the parks and the ball field, but otherwise the race is blah-blah.

But one day I do want a coast-to-coast medal, so I'm sure I'll have to pay the outrageous entry fee again sometime...

Thanks I will! I had my minuscus repaired in my knee in mid-October, so I've only been back running for 4 weeks. No PB for me this time. They radically changed the half course this year, so I'm looking forward to the new sites.

knee repair...ouch! be careful!I did the full marathon in AZ in 2008, but not the half. I wonder why they changed the course so much. hmm.

I'm hoping the Tink course will be a little more exciting than industrial Anaheim for DL, I guess we'll see. :)

I think another thing that turns me off about the price is that I am now a little more experienced (the DL Half was my first endurance race, but I've done several others since then), and as a result, a Half just doesn't seems like that big of a deal any more. It's still a long race, but it just doesn't seem as infinitely long in my mind, compared to running a full. I've checked out some races in other parts of the country, and it's pretty easy to find a Half for under $50.

I'll do the 2012 DL Half to get the coast-to-coast, but I doubt I'll do it again after that (though my friends have briefly pondered doing all of the runDisney events in a calendar year, so there's always a chance).

Also, I hear you about marathons vs half marathon. I've done 9 fulls and 16 halfs. Most of my fulls cost less than the disney halfs. Except NYC Marathon - it was about $250. For me, the half marathons are good training runs, and it's just not a regular long run, you get the race excitement. It also makes it a little more fun, rather than challenging because it's half the race. I think it helps me mentally.

All the Disney races! wow. sounds fun, but I'd need to win the lottery to afford it :p

If they hadn't introduced Tink I'd have done all the Run Disney races within a 12 month span (I started with Princess last year followed by Everest,DLR, Wine n Dine, and WDW)but doubt I'll repeat Wine n Dine (still debating on the ToT 10 miler)

I may try to do Tink next year if reviews are favorable :)

I'm also think the reg. will fill up since RunDisney will be at the Tink expo promoting the other races.

Congrats running the WDW Marathon !!
