Mr. Alice and I have several, but we have one - just confirmed - that is truly amazing.

Mr. Alice comes from a long line of physicians in all types of fields - I've know this since we met. A few of them shared a very familiar (to me) last name. We were never knew if this one doctor in his family and the one I knew of were the same (I wasn't 100% certain of the doctor's first name).

A few weeks ago, Mr. Alice received his quarterly fraternity newsletter. In the newsletter was an announcement of the passing of his father's second cousin (Mr. Alice comes from a long line of SAMmys), and he called his mom right away to let her know the news. The gentleman was the doctor with the familiar last name.

While talking with my parents this weekend I was able to confirm that this doctor did, indeed, share the same first name as Mr. Alice's third cousin, but perhaps it was only a coincidence...

Some of you know that my younger brother passed away in May 2003 at the age of 40, due to complications related to juvenile diabetes. Mr. Alice never had the opportunity to meet Kevin because we'd only been dating since January and hadn't gotten together yet.

When Kevin was diagnosed at age 4, my parents were frantic... So many worries, so many things to learn to take care of him. Enter the most caring, knowledgeable doctor they could have hoped for... This man saved their son and their sanity in 1966 and was always there for them at a moment's notice... while we still lived in California and even via phone after we moved to Las Vegas. He was beloved.

Today, through the magic of the Internet, and an announcement on the American Association of Pediatrics web site, it was confirmed:

Dr. Neil N. Litman... Mr. Alice's third cousin AND Kevin's wonderful pediatrician.

Oh yes... Mr. Alice and I were absolutely MEANT to be together. It just took us 49 and 46 years, respectively, to find our way to each other. :)

Unfortunately, that was about the only thing we had in common. =P

    *LOL* Sherry!

I agree, avromark, but sometimes there's an extra bit of "WOW" involved that is extra special.

When I told my mom about this yesterday, she almost cried and then asked me to be sure and tell Mr. Alice just how very much his cousin meant to our family all those years ago. :)

It seems that he does as he lives less than 10 minutes from where we live and frequents the bookstore where DW works. We talk a bit and learn that each of us had made 5 trips that year and every time we were there, they were there. Later that same evening we run into each other again getting off the Sun Wheel. They were waiting at the exit and just wanted to say hello again. They said that had to run as they had fast passes for Soarin'. I asked what time there FP's were good for and they said 6:20, I pulled ours out of my belt pack and said, "Ours are for 6:15", so were went together. Later we decided to go watch the Christmas fireworks. Their favorite spot is over at SW, just about 10 feet from where we normally watch. The husband is exactly my same height and weight, we are both left handed and have both had knee surgeries. They were celebrating their 35th anniversary and were married at 18 and 19. Tinkeroon and I were also married at 18 and 19. Both of our sons attend the same university and I used to work with her father's best friend. He is in construction and was currently doing a re-model on one of my co-workers' house. Over the next 2 days we learned that we had several CM friends in common, like all the same attractions and work the park almost identically. One rather chilly evening we all thought we wanted to go on Splash but didn't want to get wet. We reached into our belt packs at the same time and both pulled out rain ponchos. We also had our picture taken with the REAL Santa and as none of us particularly cared for the Christmas 2006 "ears" all of us had brought the ones from Christmas 2005. Every time we turned around there seemed to be yet another Twilight Zone similarity or parallel. Many of you already know this other couple, RAM1984 and Mr. RAM1984, two of the most wonderful people in the world and also our best friends.

Ruthie tells this story so much better.

Tinkeroon and I have also felt the same about us being meant to be together. I have lived in every city she has ever lived in (and she was born in Las Vegas). In hindsight it almost seems like we were following each other. At one point my father almost bought the house right next door to her father's and when she was young she lived about 5-6 houses away from my uncles house. My cousins were her close friends. I also found out that one of her uncles was my father's close friend. She was 13 when I first laid eyes on her and fell in love...it took her a bit longer.

And thank you... Dr. Neil (as he signed Christmas cards sent to my family) will always be remembered and loved. :)

No, I lived in Las Vegas around 1959-1960. DW was born there in 1956 but moved back to California a year or so later when her father finished his tour of duty with the Air Force. I did pass through one more time in 1968 but that is the last time I was there. I'm thinking that we may have to visit when our son gets out of grad school. Kathy would love to see where she was born.
