Central Florida grocery market Goodings, Inc has filed a second time for bankruptcy protection in hopes of keeping its last remaining market open, the grocery store at Crossings just outside of Walt Disney World.

The former Hallmark store used to sell a LOT of Disney character collectibles. It's a sign of the times, I suppose. Crossroads just isn't the same any more.

ORDDU: At least they still have a Chevy's Restaurant there. But for how much longer we couldn't say...

I hadn't heard about the closing of Gooding's grocery stores.

Back in 1999, we stopped off at Gooding's to stock up on food stuffs before heading to our Disney Village condo-like accommodations. When we started looking at the prices of things (even orange juice, milk and eggs, we practically fainted.

And this was coming from Southern California, where prices aren't exactly inexpensive.

Between the Winn Dixie a block away and a Publix and Super Mart within 3 miles-ish the choices have grown and the others have comparative if not the same prices as the "real world"

But does the beer at Goodings cost you $31.50 a six-pack, like it does at a DVC resort?

Last time I ate at Jungle Jim's was probably 4 years ago. I, too, was disappointed to see it was gone. I settled for BWs last time.
