One of the most frequent questions during the 1st year of the HMH was "Why no Nightmare Before Christmas Musice in the Haunted Mansion?" However the music they did use was absolutely terrific. The 1st year entire soundtrack is on the 6th CD in DL's 50th Anniversary Boxed CD set. The music while waiting outside was the music box music, which I understand is from Phantom Manor at DL Paris. The marvelous poem for the holidays was introduced this year. The cemetary on the ride was completely transformed. And at the end, the hitchicking ghost had a holiday vacation, while 2-version of Lock Shock and Barrel filled in. The 2nd year, music from Nightmare was introduced. "Lock up the Sandy Claws" and "What's This" echoed throughout the entire attraction. Another change was in the queue ~ The Christmas Scarols Screamed out while you waited in line outside. Some of these Scarols were deemed offensive, and almost immediately remove - although I'm sure the words for these songs can be found somewhere. The 3rd year Ooogie Boogie made his 1st appearance in the HMH, as previous years no sight of him was to be found. A special map was made the gave clues on where you could find him at various place in and around the HM. A life size audio animatronic Oogie Boogie with a wheel of fortune replaced Lock, Shock and Barrel at the end of the ride. The 4th year was a little bit of a disappointment, being that no discernable changes were made, and that not all of the Oogie Boogies returned. Now, the HMH was still one of the best make over DL has ever done. And still amazing to see. But still, I was hoping for the rumors that the attic area would be transformed into Dr Finklestein's laboratory. Each of the 1st four years feature a special paid event, with different merchandise packages, usually 2 pricey upper tiers that included a DL resort hotel stay and two lower price levels without hotel included, some of the packages included special dinners. The 1st year included a discussion panel, that initially was to have included Tim Burton, and others who were involved in the making of the Nightmare Before Christmas movie. Unfortunately, prior to the event taking place, it was announced that Tim would not be able to attend the panel. Can't give you any more info on this, as I didn't attend this event. The 2nd year, another discussion panel took place in the Fantasyland Theater,. The panelists include people who did the voices of the characters for the movie. It also allowed attendees to be the first to ride thru the HMH, as the HMH opened that evening after park closing. The 3rd year special event was also a special evening with a "Variety Show" by the various characters from Nightmare Before Christmas, and hosted by the voice of Ooogie Boogie (who had not been in attendance the previous year) The program was really terrific. It's one of those things Disney does, and you have to wonder, why they dont offer it as a regular show during the holiday season to all guests. The 4th brought quite a change to the event, which had to be due partly to the fact of a new DL president. It was again, and after park close event thru all of New Orleans Square, Special hor'derves and beverages were available, higher priced packages included earlier entry and a wider variety of food items and alcoholic beverages. The HMH was the sole attraction available, and there were several "carnival style" games available, for which you were given a ticket book, with a ticket to redeem to play each game. And every person was a guaranteed winner. Prized ranged from light up Jack Antenna Ball headwear, nightmare Shoelaces, and other trinkets. It did get rather crowded later in the evening. This year, well no special event, : ( It would really be a nice surprise if they did have at least a couple new little additions for the holidays this year~ I don't think I would count on it. BUT it's difficult to say, since we did get some other surprises on Jungle Cruise and the regular Haunted Mansion earlier this year ~ Maybe there is hope~

And not to just see it again and again, but to buy, buy, BUY!!! all the FABULOUS NEW items that you just can't live without.

And remember, TDL JUST GOT their NBC overlay last year, so who knows? Maybe Disney and the Burton folks already re-negotiated for DL too. "Rumors from CMs does not add any credibility to the rumor..."
