There is no grace period, since 7/1 is the end of the 2 year grace period. http://www.imperial.edu/admin/...2008.pdf

Now that I'm back in Florida, I make a point to talk on the cell phone while driving, just because I can. Flipping the bird (figuratively) to the state of New York's traffic laws. Good luck with the legislation and hopefully it will actually change things, but don't count on it. I have also been frustrated with the Bluetooth I tried. I had a hard time getting it set up so that I could hear well and was confident that the person I was talking to could hear me.

I, too, hate using Bluetooth and will continue using my corded earpiece. Each one has their drawbacks but the cord works better for me. I can't stand driving w/o using a handsfree set so the same law in my town doesn't bother me much.

When you get a call, it mutes the music and rings. You can than answer the phone with one button press or set it to auto answer. It will also give you voice dial capabilities if your phone doesnt have it. It has worked great for me and jayna. Jayna has had hers in her civic for over a year with several different phones. I have it in my new Mazdaspeed3 on the stock stereo and it works great with my iPhone. I dont have to worry about missing a call cause I cant hear it or losing my headpiece that I would only wear in the car. No need to charge it as its wired into the car. The unit itself is small and comes in 3 flavors. No screen, monochrome screen and color screen. http://www.parrot.com/usa/prod...ecarkits That link contains the units they currently make. I have never had it not work with a phone and I dont even have to take my phone out of my pocket. it just syncs up. it really is the best solution if you are in your car alot and need access to your phone. If you want to see pictures or see how it works, hit me up in e-mail. peeaanuut (at) gamil (dot) com. It really does work well and isnt too expensive. I also have the hook ups on install if you need, Just trying to look out for you guys. Also if you have had problems with bluetooth in the past it is usually because the headpiece is underpowered. Small headpiece equals small battery. This unit is powered by the cars battery and has plenty of juice to spare. jayna was synced into mine one time and I was on the phone. We got home and I kept talking and she went inside the house. WITH THE PHONE. But it stayed synced and I finished the conversation. It really does settle alot of the bluetooth headaches.

It can be done if you have an amp but takes some creative wiring and is usually a pain in the butt. Another thing you might concider is that manufacturer or your headunit might have a bluetooth unit for you. What is the make and model number of the headunit and I can find out for you.

I knew DH would never get used to the Bluetooth and I never talk on the phone while I'm driving anyway because I seriously can't do it. Some people, they seem to be UNABLE to drive without talking on the phone! I've been nearly run into by people backing out of a parking space, already blahblahblahing away.

Of course it's the distraction of talking that causes problems, a lot of people drive with one hand while doing things with the other such as eating, changing the radio/CD, shifting gears. How come eating while driving, or having a stick-shift car are not illegal?? They should either make it illegal to talk on the phone while driving, or leave it alone. BTW, in this law it states that texting while driving is NOT illegal? So you can hold your phone to text, which I'd have to look at my phone and use both hands to do, but not to talk!!???!! Makes NO sense at all.
