He also said there would be a full 23 minute Christmas edition of WOC debuting in November which he said they were anticipating being very popular since everyone not buying the ticketed DL event will want to see something holiday related. Now this guy may be completely wrong, but he seemed to me to be on the up and up. I thought it was odd though that DL hasn't announced this yet, have they? I was considering going to DL in December, and don't think this would affect my decision all THAT much if it's true. I don't usually have the patience or time to wait the amount of time necessary to see fireworks/parades, but it kinda makes me mad. I don't want to spend extra money to go to a Christmas party at DL. Especially since it seems like these events are just as crowded as any other evening at the park. Anyone hear anything else on this at all???

The MiceChat folks have been saying this is coming for years, but each year they add a little more detail to their theory. I see little reason that they would announce this to the general CM base long before the public announcement, so I'm skeptical your source has any new insider information, other than what was in the article. I'm also very skeptical about a 23-minute Christmas WOC. While that's roughly the length of the current show, it's very very long for a show of its type. For reference the Believe...in Holiday Magic fireworks show is in the 10-minute ballpark, and seems to capture the festive mood just fine; Illuminations at Epcot gets a 3-minute tag added on to the regular (~12-minute) show, which also does a good job of conveying the spirit. I just don't see Disney springing for a 23-minute seasonal show (roughly the length of DL's Fantasmic!), when the precedent is for a much shorter seasonal verson. Heck, even the 4th of July stuff they've done for WOC in the past is only about 5 minutes. If we are going to get an all-new full-length Christmas show, I would expect to start seeing white trailers pop up in the viewing area very soon, followed by reports from people staying at the GCH and PPH who can see overnight tests from their hotel rooms. I think it took about 7 months for them to test and program the original show, and we're 5 months away from the beginning of DLR's Christmas season. If they're going to do it, I'd think they would want to get started pretty soon, especially with the limited nighttime hours (due to longer park hours and long summer sunlight) coming up in the next few months.

I've heard murmurs about the Christmas parties concept, and it seems to have more traction this year than last year. Until there is something definitive, we'll just have to wait and see. Folks have been making comments about a new management team for Christmas things this year...

Unless they find a way to build a stage over the bay, viewable from the WOC terraces (unlikely since it would shut down the proposed new Christmas show for a week or two), I just can't imagine where they could put on a production of that scale in DCA
