We need a NEW ride, with some real imagination in it. LIke the original. Like the classics. This current version is a place holder...and it was nice to have Figgy back. Now it's time to have Figgy in a bigger show. A brand new show. With some happy songs and some snappy dances.

Wonderful character created just for EPCOT Center! And he STILL can only be found at Epcot. He hasn't been shipped to any of the other parks, especially the overseas parks. Although, I believe he would have found a home at the proposed WESTCOT for the Disneyland resort as I believe they were going to add a JII ride there, too, from what I remember reading. Still, it's good to see that he's back and still loved. Too bad his current ride isn't as impressive as his first...

Most of the ride is just empty space, with a few Figment animatronics thrown in to make the fans happy. The only thing that the ride has going for it is that they used the One Little Spark song – but even that isn’t as good as the original version. Figment is a GREAT character though, but I would much prefer they went back to the wide-eyed, child-like version they had in the original. This new Figment is too obnoxious, and doesn’t capture the same spirit that the original had. (If only Billy Barty were still around to voice him – he fit that character perfectly!) I would love to see them take the ideas presented in the original ride and re-work them into a new experience. The idea of traveling to the Dream Port, and then through all the different realms of your Imagination was great – and could still make for a fun ride. And with all the new effects they’ve come up with since the 80s, they could really bring the world of the Imagination to life! Just please – for God’s sake – no more cheap paper cut-outs or cheesy skunk-smells!

Originally Posted By FerretAfros I know I'm in a tiny minority on this one, but I always enjoyed the second version. Was it a great classic attraction? Probably not. However, it was still well done and I enjoyed my time on it a lot. Artistically, it seemed to make a lot more sense than the current version they have now. Upon entering the Imagination Institute, you are scanned and show that you don't have much in the way of imagination. As you go through the attraction, you begin to see things in a different way (the constallation room is a great example of how you start by seeing something as just random stuff, but it becomes something better with imagination). While no single effect was all that impressive, I thought that that the way they were presented, and the order they came in, was very cleverly done to get you to look at things differently throughout the attraction. At the end you're scanned again and have so much imagination that you overload the system and it explodes into an exciting finale. Some people complained that it insulted their creativity at the beginning, but I think that setup worked perfectly for what the attraction was supposed to be. Given that it was so much shorter than the original, it would have been nice to see some more spectacular stuff along the way, but it was still an enjoyable ride. While bones of the original still remain, its seems like much of what was actually impressive of the original has been tamed down. The train doesn't seem to be nearly as loud or realistic (though still good), and the build up gives the whole thing away. The upside-down house was painted neon colors, which makes it not nearly as interesting to see, since it just looks like any flimsy set you'd see on another smaller scale ride. The brain scanner doesn't make any sense, as there's no build up to it, and the bright yellow walls of the finale room make it painfully obvious how the effect works. Add in the awkwardly stiff Figment AA's, and there's just no excitement there. The transition from there to the unload area is also awkward, since the bright walls show a sudden change when you get to the fiber optic area. There may be a few minor improvements between the 2nd and 3rd versions, but I honestly can't think of any off the top of my head.

Bringing back the original would be admitting they messed up by getting rid of one of the greatest rides they ever built. And obviously the new one would be heavily upgraded.

Ferret's opinion is just as valid as yours. In fact, I think Ferret's got some points. Imag 3.0 isn't much of an improvement over 2.0---at least, not if you don't worship at the altar of Figment.
