Instead of stitch imagine an ugly alien.

basically the storyline was that this company was unvieling a new teletransportation device to the public.

Due to safety reasons people had to be restraint. at one point of the demonstration they were suppose to teleport a peron from a planet down to earth using the new device. Something goes terribly wrong and instead a large ugly vicious alien is transported. luckily he is contained in the tube. Or is he? He managed to break the tube and escape. At the moment of his escape the room goes into red alert and the lights dim at the same time the red emergency lights light up. The attractionw as quite intense. You could here the alien moving around the room and then suddenly come near you. You feel his hot breath against behind you his strong arms compress against your shoulders and his saliva dripping on you. (not sure if it was still there but originally you could also here him break lose one of your fellow guests and have him/her for lunch) It was one of the most intesnse feeling ever produce by WDI.

It was not an attraction for everyone but it was good. The whole idea that you are strapped with little for you to do was incredible. WDI created a very realistic feeling of fear from simple special effects that used all your senses in a slightly lit room.

Plus...wasn't SIR one of the greatest characters ever? Bring back the old ride!!

    Cool!

I'm not sure what people expected from Stitch. I didn't think it was awful but I wasn't expecting anything much anyway. Alien Encounter was alway billed as scary and one of the excuses they used to replace it with Stitch. It was basically the same show only without Stitch. I cannot imagine anyone over the age of 10 thinking it was even remotely scary.

It lead the way for the same philosophy as a lot of new "additions" lately. Adding a popular character to an already existing ride or show. Nemo and Capt. Jack Sparrow come to mind.

I didn't mind Stitch's Escape, except for the foul smell. If not for that, I wouldn't mind going on it again, mostly to see the amazing AA of Stitch.

Mission to Mars was lame IMO, but my 7 year old son loved it at the time, he grew up and thought Alien was just cheap visual effects, at 23 he wasn't impressed with Stitch at all. But we still did it twice the last trip.

Pirates with the redhead scene, and the Haunted Mansion - neither ride really fits into the cutesy definition of the new "magical" Disney Parks brand, and yet they are the two greatest attractions ever built. Or how about Indiana Jones in Disneyland - not exactly a cute ride for kids. Disney was always at its best when things were a little edgy and skewed a little towards adult style humor. Maybe Alien Encounter took it a little farther, but really, for the time period in which it was built, it really wasn't all that scary compared to some other things that were around at other theme parks and even in PG movies.

i never experienced Alien Encounter. I am not sure I would of like it though. i hate haunted houses were the performers come at you. Alien Encounters sounds kind of like that. too creepy.
I am not big fan of Stich, I think he is overrated, so i am not sure i would enjoy this incarnation of the bulding. I think agree with the witches, nothing very appealing to me has been in this building.

Me too. But Disney doesn't do the coming at you sort of thing so much. Instead, they're very good at messing with your mind, and making you think or imagine something rather than actually see it.

Of course, now that I've said that I'm remembering the lion coming at you in Honey I Shrunk the Audience, and the spiders in Tough to be a Bug.

Oh, yeah. Then there's Fozzie's pie in Muppets 3D.
