We're planning on going to Universal studios on Sun 4/1/07 & DL from Mon to Wed 4/4/07 and we really want to stay at one of the hotels close to the Disneyland entrance. We will have 10 people total (5 adults & 5 children), so we'll be getting 2 rooms.

I'm looking at Carousel Inn & Suites, Anaheim Camelot Inn & Suites, Tropicana Inn, Park Vue Inn, & Best Western. I've called all of them except Best Western. Camelot had the lowest rate of $149/night for a 2 Queen Bed Room. This rate is without any discounts. We have senior citizens coming with us so we'll use either Senior citizens, AAA, or Entertainment book discounts, whichever is the better discount. Carousel had the highest at $180 for the same # beds.

Any responses would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I thought the Carousel Inn was fine when I stayed there. Though there wasn't much clearance between the bed and the refrigerator door. (Like the door hits the bed when you open the fridge.)

The Tropicana is fine. Nothing special. Really close to the cross walk though. When we've stayed here the rooms always seem stuffy. We air them out and everything is fine though.

The Best Westerns are fine. Nothing special. Nothing terrible about them either. Usually they're too expensive (in the $110-120 area), so they're rarely our first choice.

So far #1 choice is Camelot. #2 is Tropicana. #3 is Carousel. All 3 have continental breakfast, but Camelot says they have an expanded Continental breakfast. Tropicana has a kitchenette and some rooms have stoves. I'm sure I won't be cooking, but I think the other adults MIGHT cook. Both Camelot & Tropicana have a refrigerator, but I think the microwave has a fee at the Tropicana.

For an extra $31, I'm not sure if the Carousel is worth it if all 3 hotels are basically right next to each other.

    What do you guys think?

I know it isn't on your list, but the Anaheim Hilton next to the Convention Center is at $104 per room per night plus tax.

Park Vue Inn is $114 per room per night plus tax.

Howard Johnson's on Harbor is $136.80 per room per night plus tax.

So I tried to book BW Park Place Inn from TravelAxe and it said there were no rooms available for my dates. Weird, I don't know why they listed them. That would be AWESOME if I could get that rate of $79/night. I called BW directly & I got a rate of $143/night w/ discounts.

I would LOVE to stay at the Hilton, but I was really trying to get something on S. Harbor Blvd close to the DL crosswalk. I don't think the rest of the group wants to walk from Hojo's even though it's probably only 15 minutes.

I forgot to check Park Vue. That is the lowest price of the 5, but there are mixed reviews on that one.

    #1 choice still Camelot @ $129/night (newly renovated & w/ expanded breakfast)
    #2 choice still Tropicana @ $125/night w/o the kitchenette
#3 choice now Best Western Park Place inn @ $143 (if I can get it at $79/night it will jump to #1, even w/o free breakfast)
    #4 choice now Carousel
#5 choice Park Vue, still pending since I'm getting mixed reviews

Since none of these hotels have anything really awesome/disgusting (besides Park Vue) about them, I'll probably get the one that has the cheapest rate. Thank you for all your help.

Not sure if you know this or not, but they do offer a free breakfast. Or a voucher for free pancakes next door. (You still have to pay for drinks)

We enjoy being right across from the park entrance and the room is large enough that our two teen boys don't get on each others' nerves. The continental breakfast is pretty bad. Strictly pastry and juice. If we're really hungry we walk to McDonalds. The rooms aren't fancy but are clean and in good repair and customer service is excellent. We have stayed at many other properties and we have been happiest with this one due to the very spacious rooms, perfect location, and great customer service.

Non-busy days for BWPPI are showing about $88 per night, and I think the dates you're going are before spring break, so you should get something similar.
