Disney has announced Annual Passholders will begin to receive cards enabled with radio frequency (RF) technology beginning on March 20th. Starting that day, all new and renewal Annual Pass purchased will be issued on RF-enabled cards. In addition, between March 20 and May 19, all existing passholders can visit the Odyssey Center at Epcot to convert their existing passes to new RF-enabled cards. (Note: Passes exclusively for water parks or Disney Quest can only be converted at the water parks and DisneyQuest).

To convert your current card to an RF-enabled pass, bring your current pass along with a Photo ID to Odyssey Center between March 20 and May 19 during regular park hours. The new cards behave exactly as current cards do but will now allow passholders to use the new main entrance touch point entrances.

For those who choose not to convert, the current paper passes will continue to work as they do now.

Likewise, it seems odd that it says you can keep your paper ticket, since all signs indicate that they will be removing all of the traditional turnstyles in favor of the tap-and-go system. Perhaps they've phased the construction so that there will still be some regular turnstyles left before the last of the paper APers have to renew.

Still don't understand why things like this are done so differently between the two coasts!
