ORDDU: They would still have to make some modifications to one of the outdoor balconies and enclose it for weather protection--as Walt did with the original castle in Anaheim. But someone had written an article back when HKDL first opened, claiming that the Hong Kong castle had been built with the idea of something being done with its interior--possibly a walk thru or maybe even something totally different.

After seeing the recently re opened Sleeping Beauty Castle walkthrough at Disneyland. I would love to see this classic story re told to a new audience. Would make a nice 5th Anniversary gift.

Was there ever any talk of putting an attraction, food locale or retail inside at any point?

Don't recall that ever being mentioned unlike many elements that were dropped from the park.

Nope - it was nixed early by management using the same rationale as for the lack of dark rides - a lack of appreciation for Disney characters in HK/China.

Maybe once the new portfolio leader is in place they may decide to revisit the space.

ORWEN: Yeah, because we've been reading that the Winnie the Pooh Dark Ride is about the most popular attraction in the park--even more popular than Space Mountain! That ought to tell them that the Disney characters ARE popular over there no matter what the management people wanna' think or say!

ORDDU: Plus they have parades with Disney characters in them that seem to be popular enough. Two stage shows that are character based, as well, so when are they going to wake up and smell the coffee and stop denying that it would be perfectly appropriate and even DESIRED that Fantasyland have more attractions based on the Disney characters?

ORWEN: It seems to work in all the other Disney theme parks, after all! Let's hope they start realizing this in Hong Kong too!
