So what's on your menu this year? Are you cooking or going to some where for your dinner?

Any yearly traditiions you'd like to share?

We will work on our menu this week but I know it will include the following:

    Turkey & Ham
(we do not normally serve ham too but we are having a ton of people visiting due to my mom and I coming back to Cali).
    Green Beans
    Mash Potatoes and Gravy
    Yams
Stuffing (in and out the turkey)
    Cranberry Sauce
    Jello Salad
    Enchiladas
    Artichoke Spinach Dip
Cra(p) Dip - LOL, remember that a few years ago LPers?
    Deviled Eggs
    Chips & Salsa
Pies: Pumpkin, Lemon Meringue & Berry

    turkey
    stuffing
    potatoes and gravy
    yams
    salad
    rolls
    maybe a few surprises

    pumpkin and chocolate cream pies

But, my stepmonster makes the DRYEST turkey in the world. So, being that I've been a cooking crazy person this last year I thought I might try doing the meal this year.

The problem is that I have no space really to put everyone in my house. So - maybe Ursula will host? And I can cook?

My menu most likely would be:

    Turkey
    Prime rib roast
    cranberry sauce
    sour cream potatoes
gravy (from a can because I fail each time with the homemade stuff)
    apple sausage stuffing
green beans with garlic and sea salt
    Rolls
    Maple Creme Brulee
    some sort of pie

Course the 99 cent turkey dinner the cast cafeterias usually do is pretty good too :) then spending the day at the parks is nice too

We always have the exact same thing. My family is adamant that my mother do as little of the cooking as possible. I've assigned various appetizers for her to bring. She will make the rolls and the pecan pie, however. It was funny to see the panic on their faces when she offered to make more items.

Appetizers: (doing less this year as we're not even hungry when it's time for dinner!)
    chilled shrimp
tri-layer dip from Costco (parmesan, pesto, sun-dried tomatoes)
    crackers
black olives and blue-cheese stuffed green olives (my daughter's obsession)
baby sweet and baby dill pickles
salami (NOT SOY or TURKEY! LOL)
cheese (not sure what kind yet)

    dinner:
    oven roasted turkey
    sausage, mushroom and chestnut stuffing
    garlic smashed potatoes
    madiera gravy
fresh cranberry relish (apples, oranges, pecans)
yams (w/lots of brown sugar, butter and marshmallow topping)
a yet-to-be-determined vegetable sidedish (probably citrus green beans with toasted ciabatta crumbs)
    Mrs. Kidwell's rolls

pumpkin pie (mine is SO much better than my mom's Libby's recipe, she just won't admit it. LOL)
    pecan pie
a yet-to-be-determined dessert that the hubs will eat

    1 zillion calories later...LOL

Here's a funny article from this month's Cooking Light magazine. (The wine was totally worth it, imo!) ;-)
