Our 41/2 year old grandson is going to be Anakin (sp) for Halloween and we are thinking about having him make his own lightsaber (with help.) He is a major fan.

I'd like to know how much they cost and if they light up or have sound. We have the huge lightsabers and he is careful with them but they are way too heavy for Halloween. He has the usual play lightsabers from Disneyland.

Yes, grandma and grandpa tend to spoil :)

Anyway, it has worked fine. My son really likes it. The only thing that has bummed him out is that when you make Darth Maul's double-sided light saber, both sides don't light up. But he doesn't make that one often...its too big to move around with in our house!

He has a bunch of light sabers, and except for the kit from DL, the rest are from Target. His favorite by far is the Force Action light saber. Its the one where you press a button and the light saber pops out (rather than the typical one that you have to "shake" out). It was $20-ish. Just something to consider.

    Have a Happy Halloween!

I was really impressed with them - for a one-bladed saber, it's about $20, I'm not sure how much for a double-bladed one. They light up, makes several different sounds, and the blade collapses for easy transport. I would recommend going for a red blade, though - only because when it lights up, it is more dramatic-looking than the clear blade which is dependent on colored disks at the base of the blade to provide any kind of hue. Hope he likes it! :)

You can do a double blade but only one side lights up and I would not recommend a double for a 4 1/2 year old to hard to handle. the double blade price is 22.95. both include the 2 c batteries that they take. A Cm will put the batts in when you pay for your purchase.
