Not baking, but I will make peanut brittle and carmel corn to send out with the cookies.

Last year I had some leftover teacake dough and pressed it into a square tart pan, baked it and then spread Nutella on the top. That was tasty and I might do that again this year. I haven't made peppermint bark yet, either. I made a bunch of batches of marshmallows last night but might end up making a couple more as gifts for people. I want to make Spritz cookies but I don't think we really need them. I used to make panettone every year. I liked to splurge on a lot of different dried fruits for it. My husband and daughter are picky so I found it too much work to go through and didn't need 3 whole loves for myself. So many traditions...so little time. ;-) I will also have to make snickerdoodles because they are my husband's favorite. I started a new tradition last year of making cinnamon rolls (Cinnabon recipe) for Xmas morning. I give some to my SIL and brother, too. For Xmas day, I prefer to have lots of different treats, even if we only have one serving of each type. So, I try to stash a few cookies from each batch and freeze them. It didn't work with the Russian teacakes. ;-)

Those are the 2 that my kids actually preferred My mom is a wonderful baker and she enjoys sending cookies home with us So, I ended up making pretty much the same cookies she made, except for the Danish brundkager (sp) and date bars, and then we'd end up with waaaaay to much. Now I just give her the pleasure of baking for us and DD will probably bake our cookies when she comes home. So, I guess the answer is no, I probably won't be doing any baking this year. The 6 days we'll be in DLR isn't helping, oh darn, poor me

Each year we seem to have a favorite cookie so I end up making multiple batches of those. Hm, butterscotch brownies would be good too...

Butterscotch brownies sound yummy......have a good recipe mele?

I make them every year, along with a lot more sophisticated, time-consuming baked goods, yet everyone RAVES about these things! Somehow, the chocolate ends up tasting like dark chocolate, and they're very rich and crispy and yummy. Here's the recipe: WHEATIES TING-A-LINGS 2 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate pieces 4 c. Wheaties (or Total or any flake type cereal) Melt two packages of semi-sweet chocolate pieces over hot water. Cool at room temperature. Mix in gently 4 cups of Wheaties. Drop by tablespoon onto waxed paper. Place in refrigerator to set at least 2 hours. Makes about 42 clusters.
