It was a really good way to keep something continuous through-out the parade, since there are so many different movies represented on each float. Speaking of which, it seemed to me that a lot of the choices of pairings on each float didn't make a lot of sense. Like why were Aladdin, Pooh, and Mary Poppins together? Or Alice and Peter Pan (other than the Kathryn Beaumont connection)? I don't mind them sharing floats, but a lot of them just didn't make much sense to me. Also, they seemed to try too hard to get in music from all the movies, and just ended up with a mess of all of them. I think I would rather have them pick one song (or movie) per float for the music, and just let the other movies be represented by the characters, but I can understand how some people might want to hear the music for the characters when they see them too. Another interesting thing that I read earlier today is that the music for the show stop was originally written for DL's Parade of Dreams, but they decided to ditch POD after they had written the piece, and used it for WDW. If you listen carefully, it follows a strikingly similar structure (quiet intro without much dancing and a voiceover, main theme, bridge, grand pause into a big loud moment, lots of spinning flags into the finale). If you play them at the same time, they almost synch up exactly, but the ending of the Celebrate song is just a little longer than the Welcome show stop. I think it played out very well with the dancers, and I thought the choreography and formations they were making during the stops was very well done. And that castle float at the end...is it new? : )

Why not put him with Alice, since both have very dull scenes in the English countryside (lucky for Alice, that's only to set up the rest of the film; for Pooh, it's the whole thing). And I also noticed that the basic float seemed to be pretty much the same on all of the units, which was kind of interesting. It looks like it's probably the same general (very general) design that is used on the pre-parade float for DL, but with a lot more details. That kind of got me thinking about how with older parades, they used much more basic shapes for the floats, making them easier to edit a little and reuse in a new parade. It seems that the edits have gotten smaller at WDW, leaving essentially the same parade there for nearly a decade, but they've gotten bigger at DL, where the floats for each parade are vastly different and clearly built for that specific parade (though they may be built on an older chasis, I'm not sure).
