Are there any retro fashions that you still wear, or is your wardrobe entirely modern?

Speaking for myself, although I was born in 1982, I'm a devout 80s fan, as I've written about in an article (now slightly outdated) that I did for RetroJunk (The link, which could be considered NSFW due to language and a few pictures, can be found here: http://www.retrojunk.com/detai
    ls_articles/760/).

I have a denim jacket that's covered in 80s pins and buttons (there are a few 70s and 90s buttons mixed in as well, but it's a predominantly 80s-based jacket). I also have a slew of "Scarface" shirts as well.

So what do you do when it comes to retro fashion?

    Sincerely,

    John Kilduff

    Okay.

    I think I'm okay now.

My home is trying to be mid-century modern. If I had the figure, I would dress mid-century but I don't. I am blessed to have found a few modern styles in today's clothing, so I do blend it into my everyday clothing.

I do, however, own a few mid-century handbags that I carry and I am way totally flattered when another aficionada spots it.

My wardrobe is fairly modern, but not what you'd call fasionable for the most part. I work for a bank so most of my work clothes are business bland.
When not at work I live in my jeans (lowish waste, flair or boot cut) and either flip/flops or my hippy chick sandals and if it's warm enough tank tops otherwise whatever.

I actually had that conversation once, when a young woman asked where I'd gotten my worn-out, ripped-up jeans.

    So I guess that's retro...

I'll wear any kind of sweater or top that covers the rear over calf- or full-length leggings.

I have a *fantastic* jacket from the 80s that I haven't quite gotten the nerve to wear, or it just hasn't quite worked with the new styles. It's probably been 2 years since I tried it, so maybe next seaon it'll work for me. It's oh so New Wave...

Note, I didn't actually grow up in the 80s but it was my defining decade - I just loved the futuristic/bright/creative New Wave look.

The other style I've always loved is slim pants, we used to call them "cigarette" pants. When they first came out again, over a year ago, I got a pair and DD said they didn't look right, weren't skinny enough! I like mine, they fall straight and skinny, again unlike the newer interpretation, which in this case seems to be super tight all the way down.

So the new "retro" clothes are more of a re-interpretation, often.

I'm liking the lower rise jeans better than the high wasters mostly because they don't cut off my air supply when I bend down to tie my shoes ;-).

I like the retro styles from the 50's, bowling shirts (maybe I have 2) and Hawaiian shirts (maybe I have 30)!!

I never wore anything stylish in the 50’s because I spent most of my short time in the 50’s in diapers!

Another thing I like to wear is tie-dye. And I know many of the rest of you do too!!

Re pants, I still think the most flattering pant style is the stirrup pant. Nothing like that sleek line to slim and lengthen! I bet they come back next year! That's one thing I do still have, a nice pair of wool stirrups from the 80s. I did wear those a couple times this winter, tucked into boots.

As far as the styles, I have seen this creeping in for a year or two now, for those of us old enough to recognize some of this stuff -- I have 2 daughters 22 and 12 and they have taken to some of the retro styles.
