Darnit, why couldn't one of my parents have been Mediterranean?! What I wouldn't give to have a full dark beard.

Beard and mustache. I grew the mustache when I was a senior in high school (for a production of Fiddler on the Roof). I grew the beard while I was in grad school (it was the thing to do). I have had them at various lengths over the years, from rather scruffy to exceedingly neat and trim.

Neat and trim these days-- with a bit of gray sneaking in. Since my hair won't turn, people think I have been getting it dyed. Never have and never will.

My wife has been talking about maybe having me shave off the beard. Since they're supposed to make a guy look older, I hardly need it any more...

My hair (what I have left) is salt and pepper but my beard would be pure white if I didn't intervene. I dye it only to the extent that it matches my hair.

It has now become a part of my overall personality. It kind of grows on ya!

If they ever perfect a hair transplant where they can take the hair from my back and put it on my head...well...I'm golden!

I've thought a lot about getting rid of that too, but after all these years I'm afraid seeing my upper lip my scare me!!
