I just got back from Disneyland and I was shocked and sadden by some of the behavior I experienced and witnessed. The worst thing I saw happened in the Tiki room. We went to see the show on Sunday night and it was half full. The show stared and several parents allowed their kids to dance and run (not walk) around the center Tiki statue and down the rows along with singing and yelling. At one point five kids were running around and it was like a kid/toddler Tiki mosh pit, My son was going crazy and wanted to get down and run too and I had to leave to keep him from restrained. It was so distracting and took away from the show. It was my sons first time seeing the show and it really ruined it. I was so upset that I talked to the cast member and they said that it was perfectly fine for the kids to do that. I can tell you that I was not the only person to leave. Has this happened to anyone else? Is this normal? What the heck is going on here?

When I have been in the Tiki Room with children they have been well behaved.

If a couple of kids start misbehaving, it does spread (as you experienced). The cast member should have stepped in very quickly, and politely asked the parents to restrain their chidren, or take them out where they can be more rambunctious without distracting others!

It's ok for them to sway and sing in their seats. I even don't mind if they stand in their place and clap or whatever, but they are not supposed to be running around amuck.

A comment to Disneyland.com with the time of day and date and brief summary of how this was handled poorly by the CM is definitely in order. Hopefully you can take a few moments to do that noahbear2008, since your comments here will never be registered or seen by Tiki Room management.

You've got to send a quick note via Disneyland.com!

While I was struggling with my little one outside waiting for the rest of my family to come out of the Tiki room one of the offending parents walked out with one of the little "angels" and said didn't you have a great time dancing around and looked right at me almost daring me to say something. I decided to take the high road and ignored the comment and the look, we were at Disneyland and I keep thinking be kind, be kind.

Hordes of people queued up all day, rude guests, surly local teens who recite every line of the attraction spiels, and kids running around while their parents sit idly by certainly doesn't sound like a place I want to visit anytime soon.

Yep - I think it's called the "broken window theory." It has to be stopped at the beginning or it can quickly spiral out of control.

Everyone should keep this in mind the next time they think a CM was short with them in telling them to obey a rule. Part of this is that the CMs know that if other guests observe you breaking a rule, then they think it's okay for them as well, and it can quickly become an out-of-control situation. And as far as them being "short" with you, ask yourself if it would have been necessary at all had you obeyed the rule in the first place.

If the kids think they can get away with that, soon they'll think they can get away with any kind of bratty behavior. Fortunately, I've only seen that happen a few times.

Poor guy was just trying to do his job, we understood that but I heard him get yelled at a couple of times after that.
Hans I don't want you to get the wrong idea, the Tiki room CM was the only cast member that we encountered that was rude, the rest of the time we had a great CM experience, however, the interaction with other guest not magical or even civil at some times. As I said in another post Disneyland is still amazing and magical the guests are not. My poor husband said, "I am Disneyed out not because I am sick of Disneyland, I am sick of the people who are in Disneyland."

I'm not surprised. My experiences with DLR cast has always been excellent. For what they get paid it's a wonder that they can be so perky and positive all the time.

    I'm with your husband.
