Also, recently I've noticed on a satellite photo of the World Showcase at Epcot that they have a reasonable amount of basically unused land between a couple of countries. Like the long walk between China and Germany, and more spaces between others as well. Do the brains over there have any plans for additional nations? I believe Walt envisioned a much larger World Showcase, and I believe the current one has room to add for international flavor. Any ideas?

LOL. You have no idea who you are taunting, asking such a question!

FYI, part of that area was turned into a Winnie the Pooh themed playground for young children.

Disney has had many ideas for countries to be added to the WS, but they haven't come to fruition, mostly because of money (or the lack thereof.) The space you mention between China and Germany was meant for "Equatorial Africa," and for a long time there were signs promoting it. But now that Animal Kingdom is a reality, there is no need for sucha pavilion.

As for Epcot...They may have a desire to put more countries in but it takes the country itself to finance the projects and if they aren't interested in doing so, nothing will go there. And BTW, Walt had absolutely nothing to do with Epcot as we see it. He was dead long before any ideas were put on paper for the showcase. Walt's EPCOT was an actual real life community where people lived and worked. A model community employing all the modern technology available. Hence, Experimental, Prototype, Community of Tomorrow or EPCOT. It is highly unlikely that Walt's idea would have worked. The city of Celebration is the closest they could get to that and they ended up selling that off because they couldn't manage it. They made way more promises then they could keep.

One can get AA's and entertainment anywhere, but only at WDW can you get a cardboard playground on land that cost more per acre than almost anywhere in the world.....yes indeed, let's get that Power Rangers jungle gym up soon !

While I still stick to my guns about not liking 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, I really wish MK would get a brand new E ticket. Not some building that is reworked like Stitch's Great Escape. Any rumors on new E tickets being planned for MK?

It seems everytime I return there is something changed for the children (Alien Encounter). They didn't need to put a playground where 20K was, they could have made it so much more.

But during the redo I would have removed the "cages".

There are a few rumors and theories surrounding the disappearance of the 20K Leagues attraction; mechanical and structural reasons are cited as to why they were removed.
