If there's no announcement around these happenings, I will be even more skeptical about a new Star Tours.

Can't we put something else in there? Journey Through Pixar Space or something?

But what I think may be hampering a construction start date is that there are other projects in Tomorrowland that are indirectly & directly related to a Star Tours 2.0 opening.

Both Florida and Anaheim (and likely the other resorts soon after).

I'm a bit surprised by the feet-dragging as far as announcing it. I've heard (treat this as rumor only, albeit from informed sources) that in FLA it will go down late this year and open in 2009.

But things do keep getting delayed ... getting that Disney Decade voice popping up in the back of my head.

Its all part of Tony's project to revitalize tomorrowland with some updated attractions and one or two new one within the next four years.

I would not be surprised to see the attraction close with no announcement until it could be tied to somekind of promotion.

Ten years ago this would have been great. Even five years ago they might have been able to catch whatever reflected lustre from the second batch of movies. But now? Yeah yeah - there's rumors of some saturday morning cartoon in the pipeline. That may or may not happen, and if it does it may or may not succeed.

Either way, disney will be sinking a boatload of capital into a franchise that's fast diminishing.

I'm not saying I won't enjoy whatever they come up with - once or twice, like any other simulator. But I hope they don't plan on keeping star tours 2.0 around for the next 25 years.

Meanwhile, an ENTIRE triology of prequels has come and gone 3 years ago and THAT was the best time to get this update going. You know, strike while the fire is hot and all that.

It's funny to think this ride will be renovated 5 years AFTER the last film has come and gone strikes me as a little lazy. Really, how hard could it be to make another 3 minute film after 20 years?

With that said, this thing will be a VERY welcome addition :).

Star Wars has an animated movie coming out this Summer, a cartoon that has already created 25 episodes out of 100 total and a live action television show coming out in 2009 or 2010. So it say that the franchise is dying is an exageration.
