    thanks.

I guess you will have to use some discretion. The movie is 2 and a half hours so it is a long time sat in the theater.

I have seen Dead Man's Chest and as Lee said above there are a couple of jumpy bits, but there isn't really anything as sustained as the Skeletal pirates from last time. IMHO, the least child friendly moment is quite early on in the first 5-10 minutes, if a child can get past that I think they'll be fine for the rest of the movie!!!

I don't blame him! I wouldn't want to waste my valuable time in a Disney park going on an attraction that was as bad as that movie. He has good judgement.

I probably would have been a little bothered by it at my nephew's age (5) but I'd still take him to it if he expressed an interest.

I don't think anyone under 7 should be allowed into a movie if they can't sit still and pay attention or cry or pour soda on people.. I'm sure us all being Disney fans none of our kids would do that. (grin) but based on folks that have seen it.. were there a LOT of folks bringing their under 7yr olds??

yeah I'm a curmudgeony childfree adult (wouldn't mind one day, but geez even I wouldn't bring a screamy fidgety kid to the movies) but I also respect the other folks that want to see the movie.. Is this film really appropriate for the under 7 set (I mean it's PG-13.. which I realize means you can be under 13 to see it depending on how strict your parents are..). What about the Midnight showing?? lots of little ones at that? (I'm willing to go late).

What I think would have scared my kids (this will be a spoiler) is when the

birds pluck out the guys eye, that whole scene is kinda creepy.

The Krakken scenes attacking the Black Pearl

    All of Davey Jones crew

Slicing the guys throat & throwing him overboard.

I know they're going to grow up & realize the difference between reality & fantasy & put them in the proper place. For now I like to keep them little girls & still believing in the Tooth Fairy, etc.

And, Wendy, you didn't mention what I thought was the most sadistic one. There's a fun-filled scene in which five fear-filled prisoners are held on their knees, each with a creature behind them, and they're forced to listen to Davy Jones' long-ish "sentencing" of them. When Jones finishes speaking, each of the goons gleefully slits the throat of the prisoner in front of him.

    Great Disney fun.

You need to watch the movie again.

You jump out of your seat because it's scary! The ick factor is also high. (Ick can be scary.) In my opinion it's way scarier than Curse of the Black Pearl. I went with my 9 year old boy, who was scared but fine, and his 8 year old friend, who covered his eyes whenever Davy Jones was around. This post is not a negative post on the movie. (I happened to enjoy most of it) I just want people to be prepared.

The movie opens with a "Temple of Doom"-like scene in which screaming adult male prisoners are tortured and/or dropped into dungeon pits. The cameras make sure to focus on the fact that the prisoners have been so violently dragged across wooden planks that their heels are a bloody mess. And lest there be any misunderstanding about the seriousness of this sadistic destination, the final scene of the sequence is a shot of the torturers throwing countless corpses into the sea.
