And here I thought this topic was about rush hour on the freeway.

I think it would take me a long time to get tired of it. Paul Frees' voice resonates something ethereal in me, I'd have a blast with it.

Great stuff. The free floating canoes and new crew of guests each time, provided enough variation to make it really enjoyable and fun. Plus, since it was all guys working the canoes, young girls enjoyed coming around, waiting in line, and hanging out with us after our shifts.

On the other hand, after the summer was over and the canoes went into storage, I got moved to the Jungle Cruise.

Thought I would love it. My lead told me that I'd lose my mind in the jungle. I laughed at him. He said it would become like working in a factory. I laughed at him again.

    Know what? He was right.

Everyday, 9am-6pm, two trips around as skipper, load the boad for two trips, unload the boat for two trips, another two trips around as skipper.

    Take a break.

Back from break, it starts all over again. Spiel, spiel, spiel. Joke, joke, joke. Elephant bathing pool, Schweitzer Falls, Trader Sam.

5 days a week. After 6 months, it got so incredibly tedious, but it also took a lot of work to look like I was fresh and having a great time, that I almost quit the company.

Fortunately, I was able to get transferred to Guest Relations and so, moved to Main Street Attractions during the week, while I trained for Guest Relations on the weekends.

That's why now, when I visit Disneyland and go on the Jungle Cruise, I don't begrudge those skippers if they seem a little chapped out.

You definitely can't 'phone it in' at The Jungle Cruise, like you could at the more standard load and unload rides like, 'Star Tours' or 'Pirates' or even 'Mr. Toad's Wild Ride.'

How many times can you hear "Greetings my friends, and welcome to the Temple of the Forbidden Eye..." without going nuts? It bugs me how he says "...and suddenly you will be turning sharply and dropping suddenly." Let's not be redundant and say things twice. The safety portions of that film bug me, and I'm just a guest, so I can't imagine what it's like to work in there (but I love the Eye on the Globe segments between the safety parts). The outdoor positions would be pretty bad too, but I think that wouldn't be because of the recorded drumming. For me, it would be the screeching bird noises It's painfully obvious that it's a recording, and not a very interesting one at that. It just gets old by the time I finally get inside the temple.

The Matterhorn positions where you can hear the yodeling would probably be pretty bad too. And then there's the recorded safety speil after you get in, with the guy with the terrible Austrian accent, even though the mountain is Swiss. I've always wondered if he sounds Austrian in Spanish too...

I don't mind the music of iasw, but I think the ticking clock would drive me insane. I don't mind the holiday version as much since they have the score from the finale room playing outside, but the ticking and tocking would get old.

It's not a ride but the soft-serve place on the MS cross street in DL would be kind of bad too (right next to the lockers). From there, you have a great vantage point to hear the dentist's office and the piano lessons. Those are great little clips to get to hear passing by, but I can't imagine what it's like to be there for extended periods.

I think the buzzing songs from It's Tough to be a Bug would sort of quietly lull me to sleep. While that wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, I don't know if I would be able to stay awake through my shift, especially since it's pretty dark down there.

The last one that really stands out to me is Mr Toad. There are just a few too many "Merrily"'s in the background music there for comfort. The load area also seems to have a loop about as long as the Jurassic Park on in Universal (which is longer than FanBoy sang, it's 2 times at the speed he sang followed by one time with the first 3 notes at the same speed and the second 3 notes held out longer. But it's still only about a 20 second loop at best) and what's on the loop is very repetative too. Something about having words to the song also makes things generally more annoying.

For what it's worth, I absolutely love the music in the queue and outdoor areas around Soarin' over California in DCA. I don't know about about the Epcot one, since it wasn't open when I was there last, but I would assume it's not too bad. (And you were right, I'm a he!)

From my time working at the park, I always remember how the folks who worked on Main Street or the Plaza would always sing along to the parade music whenever the parade du jour passed by. Some of the parade music got pretty cheesy, but none of it was particularly annoying...

I would think the end of Maelstrom would be worst. "Norway's spirit has always been, will always be advenure" over and over again! Ahh! I can't even stand it waiting for the doors to the theater to open.
