I found this kind of neat and was wondering if anyone else had heard about this and/or know of where the sets are located. I think it would be cool to drive by and sneak a peek (if this is at all possible...even from a distance).

There were a lot of people out there with those little cars that they put sails on. (Kind of like a catarmaran with wheels.) It seems like a dry lake bed might have some use as a desert community.

It was the one where (I think) she was a jet pilot and the evil guys were using some holographic projectors to force the jet to land (and they did fly a jet in that morning and landed it on the lake bed). Funny story about the "projectors" they were using: The special effects dept built the projectors and attached them to the wooden beds of flatbed trucks using 16d nails. Then the teamsters were supposed to drive those trucks up to the lakebed. When one of the trucks arrived that morning, it had nothing on it at all. The other one had only about half of the projector, and the driver was completely unaware that he was missing anything. It turned out that those nails only held for about a minute after the trucks got on the freeway, and then there was projector spread all over.

I didn't find anything about it being filmed outside of the old hangers though =/
