Boradwalk caters to some of the convention crowds at the Epcot resorts. Rix will cater to the Coronado Springs conventioneers. But where is the Contemporary's club ;-).

The circle seems to be complete. The location of California Grill used to serve this purpose once upon a time. I wonder in view of this approach, will the new structure at the contemporary host such a facility.

and with all of this going on, I wonder what it means for Downtown Disney? It will be interesting to see the future unfold.

It was VERY loud when I stopped around 1:30am. I expect it isn't so loud earlier in the evening. Just don't wear sneakers. :)

It isn't really my type of place, but I did want to check it out (but not now, I have no reason to). Plus I live in my sneakers unless it's a big event or I want to get dressed up for no reason.

They had a DJ playing late in the evening when I stopped by. Supposedly they plan to have bands sometimes, and eventually a cover charge.

It irritated me that I was told that I could stop by and get some pics, "no dress code". Then when I got there - leaving the MK earlier than I wanted to - I was told no. Next time, I will stay at the MK. :)

Isn't this the only place to get a drink at CSR? Too bad we had a nice time when we stayed at CSR 2 years ago having margaritas at the bar after coming back from watching football at ESPN Club.

Sorry you got turned away for the sneakers nbodyhome. :(

It amazes me it took so long for them to figure out the obvious ... oh wait, no it doesn't!

No problem on being turned away for sneakers, it saved me the cost of a drink. :) I am sure that a lot of people will like it, it's just not my sort of place. I think a real lounge, no loud music would have been nicer. Sneaker optional. :)

So I left the MK about 1/2 earlier than I would have, and that had changed by the time I arrive. I have never been to a "high class lounge", but I've been to enough private clubs that didn't care what I wore. If I thought I would enjoy it, I might go for an evening out there - but it's really not my cup of tea, from what I saw and heard.

Again, it isn't a huge deal. It is like Mannequins - haven't been inside, don't need to.

Not only that, she was going to be a paying customer too, at WDW's inflated bar prices. There simply is no excuse for this. At the very least the person should have given her a chit for a free drink at a later date because of the inconvience. You can get in anywhere on Disney property wearing sneakers. I bet you could even get in at Victoria and Fat Alberts wearing sneakers if you had a coat on. This is simply a bar with a lot of drunk conventioneers in it at a moderate hotel. Now it does sound like my kind of place but there is no excuse for Denise to have been treated this way. Especially after she had checked on the dress code previously. I know it's no big deal to you Denise, but it still isn't right. I just couldn't hold it back. I have been trying not to let things like this that happen at WDW to upset me. Next thing you know Johnny What's his name will be jumping on me for being a negative ninny. Excuse me it's time for me to go chant my Mantra while I chill.

Still, they could have done with MPierce suggests and given her some vouchers for free drinks or appetizers when she returns.

That said, first anyone except maybe Oprah would be turned away from V&A's if they were wearing sneakers. And that's how it should be.

Despite not being a righwing, redneck wackjob like my fave minion MPierce, I do believe in rules and codes ... and I am very tired of seeing the lowering of standards across society and WDW in particular.

They have dress codes at the California Grill, but you'd never know it to see how some of the people dress.

If you want to wear ripped shorts, a Pooh tee and beach sandals, then you don't belong in a fine dining establishment. Period.

That's what quick serve locations and places like Chef Mickey's are for.

And, frankly, having people dressed like that lowers the experience for others who do know how to dress for nice dinner.

I see this on cruises as well, where they ask for formal wear and you'll see folks demanding to be served in jeans and sneakers. If that's how you want to dress, that's cool. But go to the buffet where that's acceptable.

I most certainly agree that they should enforce codes outside of the parks. I still bet I've got a pair of sneakers that could fool even the maitre d' at V&A. When combined with the proper suite, and tie.

I don't care if they have a dress code. But I won't dress up just for a place unless #1 - I want to, or #2 - it's a very special event. A place to get a drink isn't a special event to me. I actually don't own regular shoes - so it's either sneakers or heels. :) And sometimes I do throw on a dress and heels for a place like the AC, just for fun. But Rix was really loud when I passed by, and I'm not a big club person. So when I say it saved me money, I actually am happy about that! Just not that I was told one thing earlier in the evening, and it turned out to be something else.

So do the Disney parks, but no one seems willing to enforce them anymore, hence bathing suit tops and cheeky Daisy Duke shorts.

Now THOSE I forgot. Bathing suit top, Daisy Duke shorts and sneakers. That would have been quite a sight. :)
