Here's how to play: 1. List the grocery store you were at. 2. What you bought. 3. Feelings on the self-checkout lanes.

Home Depot (a chain of giant hardware stores in the US) also uses self checkout lanes. And Lisann, to answer your question, yes. If you want to list your entire basket and/or cart, then make like Lumiere and be our guest!

The kids' church where they have Awana club was having a food drive, so I got a bunch of canned goods. 3. Feelings on the self-checkout lanes. I think it's a cool idea, but whenever I try it, something always goes wrong. I end up sitting there waiting & waiting for the screen to pop-up something like "Next item" or "Checkout" but it keeps "searching" or something. Maybe's it's a fluke & I have a knack for picking broken machines, but I don't bother with them anymore. They take longer that just going through the Express line. Especially up where I live. (We rarely ever have more than 1 or 2 people in line)

Mini can of peas, parmesean french bread, meatloaf, chocolate milk, mint chocolate cookies and a turkey thermometer. (Because we bought two last year and lost them both.) 3. The Ghetto Safeway does not have self-checkout. I'm a big fan of self-checkout at WalMart, Home Depot, QFC, etc though. Once you get the hang of it, it's way faster and more interesting than the regular line. Normally I stand there all la-dee-dah waiting for the clerk to ring me up. In self-checkout I actually have something to do, so I don't feel like I'm wasting time standing around.

LOL 3. I rarely use self-checkout. I don't mind using it and am finally to the point that I don't freak out and feel like an idiot while trying to use it. However, my regular grocery stores do not have self-checkout.

I always thought I was more exciting than that but apparently not. Haven't needed to shop since then. I've got candy. And I bought a big box of Lucky Charms the time before that so what else do I need? Love the self-check. Don't love it when the scanner glass is dirty. Gross! Don't like lazy checkers who don't take care of that sort of stuff when they are on *patrol* duty.

This store is so. . . .rural it doesn't know what a self checkout is. I don't mind them, except Albertsons seems to have decided that they don't need to staff a real checkout lane in the early morning hours which makes a few things inconvenient. Most of the time I'll check for the lines with an actual cashier and go to the self checkout if I have a few things and the lines are long.
