I have been trying without success to find an article about the future of the POP. Anybody know what's happening?

Nothing seemed to have been done on them for years. Every once in a while when I need my disney fix, I go on mapblast to look at stuff from the air. Birdseye gets in really close. This time it actually looks like some of the buildings are gone--all you see are the foundations and old room wall perimeters, no roofs. My husband took a look and thought the same thing. Has there been any articles or word from Disney about POP2's future? We had really been looking forward to maybe staying there sometime.

It also appeared they may have done a minimum amount of work to tidy things up some around the existing incomplete buildings (mow the grass, etc.). Take your pick of rumors. There have been stories that construction would resume this fall, or that the resort would never be completed and the unfinished buildings would be torn down, or that the property was to have become a Vacation Club development. Personally, I don't think Disney really intends to build more value rooms, but it isn't really acceptable to forever have a half-built resort, either. So it sits unfinished.

With the economy in it's current state and gas prices, though falling, still very high, people will be looking to maximize their vacation dollar. The value resorts allow them to do that while still enjoying a Disney vacation. I think the demand for value-priced rooms will increase.

So, the rumors continue to fly, even among the Disney Destination CMs. I agree, either build it out or raze it and get it over with. It's a hideous site and ruins the view of the lake from Pop Classic years.
