Rock score aside, there is an excitement about the show that you don't often see on Broadway. It's all young and fresh and new. The cast, despite being the youngest I've ever seen, is amazing to the point of being scary. And the audience is FILLED with youngsters who have seen it multiple times. The conversation behind me was a group of college kids who were comparing the number of times they'd seen SA to times they'd seen RENT. Makes me smile. Have fun!

Those boys must have had a BUSY day today with a matinee, Letterman, and their eight o'clock show. I was in Barnes & Noble the other day and sampled the cd. I expect I'll enjoy the music more when I hear it performed within the context of the show.

Yes, this young cast is talented with the singing and acting and charisma. They've got it all. I might enjoy seeing them again in different material. But not this. I just couldn't bring myself to care about the characters and their story. When Moritz did what he did in the second act I had no emotional response to it. I thought, "Okay, whatever. Let's wrap it up boys." In the middle of Wendla's "Whispering," I thought, "Oh...dear...God if this thing doesn't end soon I may kill myself." It would have been more fun to stay back at the hotel and flush a hundred dollar bill down the toilet (plus convenience charges and preservations fees) than to sit through that crap show.

This isn't 'Guys & Dolls' or 'Annie' or 'Beauty and the Beast' -- It's a show that deals with adult themes, with lyrics that are very much in your face. Am I right? It wouldn't be on my list to recommend to 'anyone' without some 'splainin' Or do I have it completely wrong?
