Star Wars Weekends fills the Disney-MGM Studios with dozens of heroes, heroines, droids and villains from the famous film saga. Each weekend, fans are able to “star gaze†as Star Wars actors take part in meet-and-greet sessions, star conversations and Hollywood-style motorcades.

Well I have been going to the Star Wars weekends for many years and having lots of fun each year! Well Disney out did themselves by total disappointing all the fans! Let me explain......People come to the SW Weekends to buy merchandise, see the celebrities, get their autographs on their Star Wars collectible. Well Disney decided to have none of that and would ONLY allow the celebrities to sign the black and white photo they supplied. They (Disney) would NOT allow the celebrity to sign anything else you brought with you...Posters, trading cards, coins, action figures, etc.....even merchandise like photos purchased at the Star Tours merchandise shop was not allowed!

So what's the point of buying all this cool merchandise at the Star Wars weekends if you can't have a celebrity sign it?

And NOT everyone is trying to get an autograph to resell it on Ebay....I know a lot of the people on line this past weekend and they are huge Star Wars collectors who have traveled great distance with the belief that they would be able to get their "Star Wars treasure" signed!!!

I for one not only spoke with Paul Wortman, a Guest Relations Manager (but so did about 30 people who followed me to Guest Relations with similar complaints about buying seasonal passes to go to the Weekends and get autographs and not being able to) but will be returning tomorrow a lot of the merchandise I purchased today as it has very little collectibility without a signature on from a celebrity that I met and had sign it for me!

It seems that by skipping last year's Star Wars Weekends, Disney has taken a step backwards and forgotten all the past years lessons and are trying to reinvent themselves at the fans expense.

If there is no change in the coming days, I'm sure a lot more people just won't waste their time going out to the Star Wars Weekends in the coming weeks!!!

    Thanks for letting me vent!

The autograph does nothing for me personally, but with all the events planned and ability to talk with the stars and such, I thought it was extremely well done. Then again, this is the first time I have attended the event and I do plan on going back for the next few weeks.

The downside...I would have liked to meet Billy D Williams but to get in the line, you had to have a wrist band which were given out in the morning. The line was short but we still couldn't get in.

I totally understand the Celebs not being able to sign anything other than their own pics. It prevents people from having everything they own signed. Also, at most events, you actually have to pay for a signature. If the celebs could sign anything, everyone and their mother would be there to make a prifit off of the event.

Anyway, I thought it was a great event.

I'm a big SW fan, but I can't imagine what flocks to MGM for this event. do the real wierdos come out, or is it pretty tame?

And whan I say wierdos I mean: "Mr Williams, in ROTJ while you were guarding the skiff, I noticed that the driver used the left thrust lever instead of the right. Now, surely everyone knows that on a JL-9000 Sand Skiff, the right lever contrils thrust while the left one controls the in-flight movie. Was this error kept in the final edit due to time constraints or due to pressure from Jabba himself?"

And, yes, I just put up my Dork flag by being able to have that almost make sense.

IMO...that's probably why many of the autograph lines at last years SW Celebration were a mile long (Carrie Fisher took two days for her fans). Folks were allowed to bring anything they wanted to be signed, which didn't really bug me, until after waiting for the signing (7 hours...lol).

Folks may not be happy with the limited items the SW celebs could sign, but it's better than waiting at MGM all day to get something autographed.
