Is it hard for kids - It depends upon their ages, but they'll be putting a lot of walking in early in the morning, they'll be seeing rides they can't go on at the time, and they might be pretty tired later in the day. If you're not local to pre-check-in (I had the same issue), you really should get to the parking lot by 5:30am, definitely no later than 6, if you want to see the opening ceremony on Main Street at 7. But there are some great character opportunities!
