I bought insurance for my European vacation, but have never bought it for a plane ticket! What do you guys do??

The fine print I found out was lengthy. I think if we died in route to our vacation it would of reimbursed our estate or something. I will never buy it again.

We were layed-over one day for fog...my trip insurance paid for the loss of the day, a hotel, and meals for that night. Our luggage was delayed several hours...my trip insurance paid us $500.

It costs me $102 to insure my trip...nothing compared to what I paid for the trip entirely. If I need it...great. If I don't...double-great.

Nope, I haven't read the policy yet, but the dollar amount I paid is minimal. Yet, it's 14% of the covered amount, which is totally ridiculous. Compared to my European vacation, where the premium was about 3% of the covered amount (I was fortunate in that DD was under 18, so her coverage was free).

For us, we don't take trip insurance. We travel so little and our trips usually consist of just airfare and hotels at highly discounted rates. Not enough of a minor insurance ticket will cover any emergencies we have. However, if we ever planned a big trip, like going to China or a cruise, I would look into it and make sure it covered a lot.

But, no I have never bought it just for a flight.
