After that time is up, they are allowed to do whatever they want with them. I'm sure plenty of them are near their 10 year limit, but I would have to guess that there are also a lot more that were installed much more recently. I guess Disney could pay a breach of contract fine, but that seems like a lot of work for the number of bricks they have.

Personally, I kind of like the bricks. They add a lot of little details that are special to people, without getting in the way of anything else. I do think it's a little strange how they just go on forever with no interruptions, but it's not too bad. If they are just replacing the bricks with newer ones (so they can make money on the same spot again), I hope that they use some other surface to break up the big spaces, like they have at DL. It makes it a little more managable to look at the whole thing at once, and it also helps find individual bricks. That being said, I wouldn't be too upset if they got rid of them, as there just seems to be a ton of them, so it's a little strange to first time visitors.

I don't see how they can be tacky. Well, maybe a little sticky if gum chewers have been messy.
Why would they even waste the money to remove the bricks,,, unless they have another money maker in mind???

I'm sure/hope they can find better things to spend money on than removing bricks.

One thing Disney may be looking at is upkeep. Some of the bricks are unreadable because of heavy traffic and because each brick is individually laid they have to be looked at for uneven bricks that could cause a trip hazard. Disney may think that it would be easier to pave those areas.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out and see if Disney allows people to reclaim their bricks to take them home if they remove them.

They're in their late 20's now and would be disappointed, but it's certainly not the end of the world. We got our money's worth of fun out of it.

I think they were only around $90 at the time, so not only did I pay a premium, I also only will have a had it for a short time if this happens.

That being said a brick walkway looks a lot nicer than paving. They can redo that whole area with pressed concrete and still maintain the brick look without ever having to maintain individual bricks.

Annoyed?! $300?! I would be embarrassed to admit that I paid that kind of money for a brick. Really, 300 dollars?!

As for me, the bricks were/are okay, for 90 bucks, but for gods sake, rip out that horrible graveyard in front of Spaceship Earth. That crap completely ruined the entrance of this grand park.

Hey,thanks. Nope. I'm not embarrassed. I guess I should also be embarrassed that I shelled out over 100K for my Porsche. 300 bucks is the least of my worries. I'm annoyed that I bought it and it may be ripped out. I have to call and see if I have the right to have it shipped to my house. I know it will cost a lot, but I wouldn't mind putting it near our gazebo. It would make a good conversation piece. If you live in the NY area, you can stop by and see it.

I understand your point of view - really, I do. But as someone who bought one of the little metal pics during the first few months that they were available, I can say honestly that I've received great joy in knowing that my smiling face has been there, in the Epcot entryway, since 1999. Now, no one will probably look for my pic but me. But every trip I've made since I made the investment, I've stopped there at the big monolith that holds my picture first thing at the start of a trip, and enjoyed the idea that I've been a part of one of my favorite places on the planet for 10 years now. When the time comes for the "graveyard" to be eliminated, I'll take it with proper grace. But I'm thrilled to be where I've been, and I hope that I can continue to greet Epcot visitors for many years to come.

Seriously, not buggin' on you, but for me personally, if I knew the price of anything had over a 300% increase from its original cost, I would have passed. But really, if it brings you any amount of happiness, then by all means go for it and enjoy.

I think they should keep the pics, but move them to the alcoves on the sides of the entrance area. That way they can add grass and trees back to the main plaza, yet still keep people's pictures in the area. I would think that would be a compromise that everyone could live with.

Now, if only Disney would actually shell out the money to make the EPCOT entrance beautiful again...
