What I am thinking is have the monorail as the primary trnsportation from the hotels to the park, all the way into Tomorrowland. Similar to how it use to be with a station right in front of the DLH. But I am thinking of bringing it more into the 21st centry. Essentially have a station either directly in front of each hotel or inside each hotel as well as in the parking structure and in Tomorrowland. That way people have a choice of how to get to the park from the parking structure. Either by Monorail, or by tram (hence saving the jobs of the transportation cast members) They have a choice form each of the hotels. DLH, and PPH can take the monorail either to tomorrowland, or to GCH ( the nearest enterence to DL front gate) Or guest can take the monorail at closing directly from Tomorrowland to their hotel without alot of walking, or they can still catch the trams. I would love to see this.

    What do you think?

Just a reminder that when they built DCA and DTD the Hotel Monorail station didn't move one inch, and the hotel towers of the Disneyland Hotel also didn't move one inch.

It is still the exact same distance from the Disneyland Hotel to the monorail station as it was when it opened in 1961; you just walk past different buildings and landscaping now than you did in the 20th century.

By creating more spurs that would meet at the epcot entrance, it would create more foot traffic in the area and turn it into more of a central hub, This could only help the park itself - which of course is huuuge and can always absorb lots of guests.

If more resort guests could ride a monorail to DTD - and pleasure island - they'd see an uptick in that destination as well. Sure beats riding the bus while you're on vacation.

A new WDW monorail spur line is almost overdue. We "of a certain generation" seem to have a greater understanding of just how significant the imprint of the monorail is to disney park culture - and "coolness". It's an important disney icon, and it needs to remain vital. The resort has grown, but the monorail system hasn't. They've developed entire areas with new parks and high-end resorts with no monorail access. This creates two problems - it reduces the allure of both the unserved resort and the monorail system itself. And ultimately the monorails will become irrelevant long before the resorts.

So I think it's time for disney to step it up a bit on the monorail front. Upgrade and expand.

In disneyland, it kind of IS a "ride", which is about all it will ever be. That's okay - it's still an integral part of the park. But I wouldn't be surprised if the shortened it. If they ever decide to develop the NW corner of the park, the ride would lose a lot of those 'figure eights' over the area.
