    Good. That form of therapy just seems ridiculous to me anyway.

    This headline is deceptive, though. Through this proposed legislation, California would not ban these therapies outright.

    Essentially, the sponsor of the bill believes that these therapies fall into the same range as other activities that are inappropriate for minors. And the psychiatric community has conducted studies, and the findings are pretty consistent that these therapies are ineffective. But for those who want to make the attempt (and are legally adult), it would still be available. You'd just have to essentially promise the State that you won't turn around and sue if it doesn't work out as promised.
