    2. if you had to pick were to start you day would it be tomarrowland or adventureland? Tomorrowland, only because I'd want to get on Space ASAP, or at least grab a FP for it. Adventureland is definitely a more exciting place though, and much more "exotic" than WDW's. Once you experience Indy, Disnosaur will seem less good!

    3. how long of a walk is it from the disneyland hotel to DL and DCA? Not far... 10 minutes at a leisurely stroll.

    4. what is the best area in DCA? best attraction? best show? I'm not all that thrilled with any of the lands :(. The best attraction is Soarin'. I'd recommend Screamin', but as you know, it's offline. The best show Aladdin... IMO the best theater show Disney has done to date (in the USA anyway.)

    5. what are the best shops in both parks? In DL, I like the Disneyana shop. All of NOS is cool too. Off The Page in DCA has a lot of Disney collectibles as well.

    6. are there random charcter sitings in DL and DCA? Yes.

    7. Club 33......any chance of being able to check it out, even for a mintue, or even eat??? You could ring the bell. ;)

    8. what is the best resturant at DLH? I haven't eaten at the DLH since the Monorail Cafe went away. :p

    9. is the EP ripley still running?? Gee, i didn't know it was out-of-service.

    10. what is the best band/act at DL? I love all the entertainment... it makes Disneyland come alive!

If you hand your camera to a CM and ask nicely, they might snap a pic of you in the bobsled.

    2. if you had to pick were to start you day would it be tomarrowland or adventureland?

Straight to Tomorrowland to get a fast pass for Space Mountain. Then go ride Buzz while you're waiting for your FP time. After Space, get an Indy FP next.

    3. how long of a walk is it from the disneyland hotel to DL and DCA

Depends on how fast you walk. I've never really timed it because it's an interesting walk thru DtD. Much different than walking from HoJo's or the Fairfield.

    4. what is the best area in DCA? best attraction? best show?

Tower of Terror and Soarin'. When you enter DCA, go get a Soarin' FP. While you're waiting for your FP time, go ride Tower.

    5. what are the best shops in both parks?

Depends on what you're shopping for. If you just want a nice selection of merch, try the Emporium in DL and Greetings in DCA. My personal faves are the Adventureland Bazarre and Rizzo's (Muppet stuff).

    6. are there random charcter sitings in DL and DCA?

Yeah. Not sure if they still do, but I think they used to have the character schedule in City Hall.

In DL you might find characters in Town Square, Princesses near the Castle, Fab Five in front of City Hall in Toontown, and Pooh characters down by Splash Mountain. Anyone in particular you're looking for?

    7. Club 33......any chance of being able to check it out, even for a mintue, or even eat???

One of the DL tours lets you duck inside the downstairs and see the elevator.

    8. what is the best resturant at DLH?

The only one I've been to recently is Goofy's Kitchen. It's fun with a good selection of food.

    9. is the EP ripley still running??

    AFAIK

    10. what is the best band/act at DL?

Billy Hill and the Hillbillies in the Golden Horseshoe.

    2. if you had to pick were to start you day would it be tomarrowland or adventureland? - Personally I would go for a FP for Indy first and then cut across the TL.

    3. how long of a walk is it from the disneyland hotel to DL and DCA - or you can hop the Monorail and go straight to TL.

    4. what is the best area in DCA? best attraction? best show? I love the area around Grizzly Rapids for best area. Best attractions - Soaring, TOT and Screaming. Aladdin is an awesome show!

    5. what are the best shops in both parks? Emporium and Disneyana in DL, and Off the Page at DCA.

    6. are there random charcter sitings in DL and DCA? Yep - all the time.

    7. Club 33......any chance of being able to check it out, even for a mintue, or even eat???

Unlikely unless you know a member or are on a tour.

    8. what is the best resturant at DLH?

At DLH, Goofy's Kitchen is fun, Granville's Steak House is very nice, and Hook's Point is sublime. But if you really want to spoil yourself, have a meal at the Napa Rose at the Grand Californian - I much prefer this place to Victoria and Alberts or California Grill at WDW.

    9. is the EP ripley still running?? I believe it is currently under refurbishment.

    10. what is the best band/act at DL?
Although overrated IMHO, Billy Hill and the Hill Billys at the Golden Horseshoe are a lot of fun.

BTW - for a real treat, ask to pilot the Mark Twain and see Walt's bed. As well as great views of the Rivers of America.

    2. I'd start in Fantasyland and get those rides in before the 6-10 crowd showed up. within the context of your question, I'd slip into A-land solely to get a FP on Indy, then shoot across the hub to T-land; Indy can be a zoo, but T-land is generally tougher once the crowds are in.
    3. What he said, but if you want a short walk, skip the high $$ of the DL Hotel and stay at one of the motels on Harbor- they are a leasurely 3 minute walk and a third of the price. If staying on property, The Grand Californian is nicer.
    4. Soaring at DCA is reportedly better than at WDW. On a warm day GRR is great. It's tuff to be a bu is one of those gems that gets dropped on a tight schedule that a true Diney park fan needs to hit. I'll probably be thrown off the board for saying so, but I love the muppet 3-D show.
    5. I must admit, I do most of my shopping at the XXXX size Disney store in Downtown Disney. In the parks, I mostly just worry about finding all the penny smashers. Looking over the old receipts, most of my purchases have been related to the HHM or the Pirate store
    6. what he said.
    7. Good f....ing luck. what have you got to lose. But a caution-lunch ain't cheap.
    8. Eating off property is much better. You're in the middle of LA- if you want fine dining, there's plenty of t not related to the resort.
    9. What he said.
10 There's a great pianist on main street- go to the Coca Cola corner. Billy hill is often overlooked byt hillarious.
    11. Look, you obviously aren't a Disney newbee, so concentrate on the things that make DL the Grand Old Dame.

Seeing as how he'll be there in two days, i think the DLH is already a done deal for him (her?)... and I imagine he got a CM discount. ;)

    4. what is the best area in DCA? best attraction? best show? Grizzly Peek/GRR. Soarin'. Aladdin.

    5. what are the best shops in both parks?
DL-Disneyana Main St. DCA-'Off the Page'

    6. are there random charcter sitings in DL and DCA? Got me on that one.

    7. Club 33......any chance of being able to check it out, even for a mintue, or even eat??? For a CM? Who do you know?

    8. what is the best resturant at DLH?
    Granville's Steak House

DLRR one of my weak points. Sorry.

    1. can you get your pic on the matterhorn??? No "official" photos, but you could get a quick snap immediately after boarding or at the exit.

    2. if you had to pick were to start you day would it be tomarrowland or adventureland? I presently go to TL for a Space Mountain FastPass, then to Adventureland for an Indy FastPass. This Wednesday you should be able to get into most everything easily. (P.S. You will be surprised at how small DL's Adventureland is. Don't miss the REAL Tiki Room while you're out here!)

    3. how long of a walk is it from the disneyland hotel to DL and DCA?
About 10-15 minutes. You may also take the monorail back and forth, too.

    4. what is the best area in DCA? best attraction? best show?
    Best area: Redwood Creek
    Best attraction: Soarin' Over California
    Best show: Aladdin

    5. what are the best shops in both parks?
Emporium in Disneyland, although I like all of NOS, Disneyana on Main Street, 20th Century Music (great vintage music in the CD burners), and Little Green Men Store Command (for pins). Either Greetings from California or Off the Page in DCA. The other shops there are sadly diluted. (P.S. Do check out the exclusive retro Disneyland Hotel merchandise sold only at the DLH.)

    6. are there random charcter sitings in DL and DCA? You bet. You can get a cast guide to their schedules, though, or ask at Guest Relations.

    7. Club 33......any chance of being able to check it out, even for a mintue, or even eat???
Alas, only if you know someone. You can check out the lobby if you're discreet by hanging out by the door marked "33." It's next door to the Blue Bayou. You may also look up into the windows and admire the ceiling fixtures from the ground. It's over the Cafe d'Orleans.

    8. what is the best resturant at DLH?
Granville's Steak House, although some swear by Hook's Pointe.

    9. is the EP ripley still running??
Last I saw it was. Only the Ernest S. Marsh has been absent lately. The Ward Kimball (engine #5) runs regularly. Check with the friendly conductors at the Main Street Train Station. Ask about a tender run-- they may let you sit directly behind the engineers for a round trip.

    10. what is the best band/act at DL?
The Billys. But don't discount the Dapper Dans, another fine group with a long pedigree.

(P.S. You didn't say how long you were staying. Any chance you would want to meet LPers? Just go over to "Meets" and post a date, place, and time...)

Check the My Disney TEAM Portal. When you log in, in the left hand bar there should be a drop down menu that says "Other Team Sites" or something to the effect. Click "Disneyland Resort." This will take you to the Disneyland Resort Cast Portal. Click the "Guest" tab, and you'll have a lot of information that might provide some information.

Not of the "they snap everyone's picture and then you can buy it later" type, like Splash. But typically three tandem bobsleds (they connect two bobsleds together these days) are lined up and you get in the one farthest back. That does give you some time before you head into the mountain, and if you ask a CM very nicely, they may well snap a pic for you, and then you've got one for free! I'd just make sure they see you putting on your seat belt when you ask them, so they don't have to remind you, or worry that you won't have done that in time.

    2. if you had to pick were to start you day would it be tomarrowland or adventureland?

Neither, for me. I'd get a Space fastpass, then go straight to Fantasyland and do all the dark rides that can get very long lines later on. This is important for you particularly because WDW doesn't have Toad any more, nor Pinocchio or Alice. So you'll want to see them, and early in the day is usually the best time to see them (though mid-week this matters less). After I did the dark rides, I'd do StorybookLand (also not in WDW, and a slow loader), and THEN head to Adventureland and see what the standby for Indy was. If it's less than a half hour, just go ahead and do it. The queue for Indy is great anyway, and you'll never have seen it before. If longer than that, grab a fastpass.

    3. how long of a walk is it from the disneyland hotel to DL and DCA?

About 10-12 minutes for either (the entrances are directly opposite each other). You can also take the monorail directly into Tomorrowland (unlike WDW), but sometimes you have to wait. It's safer to walk to the front entrance.

    4. what is the best area in DCA? best attraction? best show?

I like the GRR area best. Best attraction is either Soarin' (my choice) or TOT (my wife's). Don't overlook the animation building though - much better than WDW's. Best show is Aladdin, which is really, really well done.

    5. what are the best shops in both parks?

I'll reiterate Disneyana in DL and Off the Page in DCA. The Emporium is great, but will be familiar to you from the MK. Do check out the NOS shops, however, which won't be.

    6. are there random charcter sitings in DL and DCA?

    Oh sure.

    7. Club 33......any chance of being able to check it out, even for a mintue, or even eat???

Nope. You have to know a member. As some have said, you can take the tour that includes it, but I wouldn't pay for the tour just for that.

    8. what is the best resturant at DLH?

Granville's is the best, but it can't hold a candle to the Napa Rose, one of the best restaurants I've been to, period. Well worth the 10 minute walk to the Grand Californian.

    9. is the EP ripley still running??

    I'll defer to others here.

    10. what is the best band/act at DL?

Billy Hill and the Hillbillies. I'm also partial to the brass group that plays in Fantasyland, but haven't seen them in years. I'm not even sure if they're still there. Maybe only on busy days.

I'm sure this is already one of your plans, but be sure to check out the attractions that WDW doesn't have (Alice, Toad, Pinocchio, StorybookLand, Indy, the Columbia if it's running, especially below decks, Roger Rabbit, the canoes, the original Tiki Room...)

And OF COURSE as a DL afficianado you'll want to check out the DL history exhibit in the Opera House. And the amazing fireworks show.
