Several weeks ago, I ordered it from Amazon.com to replace the obviously bootleg version I already had. (Not the first time I had that problem either.) The DVD I got had all the special features it was supposed to have, and an amazing extra sleeve for the DVD case (you know, shiny material, raised print, etc.). Meaning, it was packaged as good as the "Pinocchio" special edition DVD.
However, whenever a still image comes up on the screen, i.e. the opening titles, the evil Queen's finger moving down the recipe for the poison apple) it vibrates a bit. Also, the pictures on the faces of the discs look a little faded. On the discs of the DVDs that you have, is the title of the movie and a barcode written on the underside of the discs around the center hole, or just a barcode?
I really want all my Disney DVDs to be legit copies, especially the animated classics. Please give me more info. If it turns out I got gypped on "Snow White" again, I am going to be so angry and frustrated. Please help me.

I believe that release was the first super-fancy DVD that Disney made, so there are certainly some quirks to it since they still didn't quite know how the technology worked (the awkward concept art gallery where you have to keep moving down the hall comes to mind). It wouldn't surprise me if these were part of the original design, despite not matching the standard way other Disney DVDs were created

Unlike most newer DVDs, the 2-disc set was in a bigger case, with a separate compartment for each disc. The case itself was made of black plastic

The discs did have a barcode and serial number etched into them near the hole in the middle, but the film's name was not included. The text and barcode were done as an etching, rather than printed in some sort of color on the disc. The images on the front of the discs are bold and look like new, despite being over a decade old

I didn't have time to put the disc in an play with the menu, so I can't help you there

I've been bootlegged again on that one, as well as "Beauty and the Beast." Chalk it up to experience. You can't trust anyone on Amazon.com.

And now I'm stuck with two bootleg movies I can't resell.

Also check your payment method for redress. Paypal will allow you to make a claim against a seller; maybe Amazon payments will do the same.

I hope you get your money back; I hate bootlegging.

Ferret, on your legit copy of "Snow White", when the Queen (as the witch) reads the info on the poisoned apple and then looks toward the camera as she says "in the Sleeping Death", does the image black out, leaving only the clear outlines of her eyes for a few seconds, and then black out completely before going to the dwarf's cottage? I clearly remember it doing that on the VHS version.
