Also, I thought I remembered reading that originally the Country Bears were created as some sort of california show for a third party company (by disney) that was cancelled.

Even if they were able to use the existing bears and shows, I think it would take longer than the two months until the park's 5th aniversary. And if they did start immediately, and advertised it as such, I bet that would make people who were planning on coming sometime in the near future from coming until they had opened.

It's rather sad, as it's sat there for at least a couple of years now out in the sun, the rain, and the falling fireworks debris.

The other Buff figure is inside Pooh, but they just left the other one out to rot and be seen by people walking along Ball Road. Very weird, and rather sad.

For me at least, it wouldn't just be the recycling that would be bothersome. It's that I don't want DCA to become too Disneyland-ified.

I would personally prefer that dark rides, "cute," and Disney characters be used sparingly in DCA.

A Bug's Land; Cruella walking around Hollywood; postcards of Mickey riding Tower of Terror; the Pixar-themed Block Party Bash; Mulan photo ops in the Bay Area: okay with me. Princess character meals in Paradise Pier; Redwood Challenge themed to a Disney movie; the Country Bears anywhere in DCA: not so much.

"Moving" a ride or attraction just means (1) paying to tear down an existing attraction (costing a lot of money) and (2) paying to build the attraction somewhere else from scratch (costing millions), with zero gain for the guest (a show which used to be located over here is now located over there. Big whoop.). Zero gain for the guest, zero increase in revenue, yet requires the spending of millions.

    Why?

That didn't stop them from tearing down and completely rebuilding the theater that is on Sunset Blvd in MGM only a few years after the park opened. On top of that, it was only moved about 150 ft, to make room for the new street/land approaching Tower of Terror. Sometimes, to get everything to work out, they have to move attractions. Other times, they just do it for the heck of it.

Aren't the 3 heads inside Pooh the non-animatronic versions that were originally in the Mile Long Bar?

I know we like to think "why can't they just do this or that", and I certainly feel the same way about things, but one thing I notice is they don't get rid of popular rides, especially if it's putting butts in the seats. I think putting Bears in DCA, while nice, will once again add ZERO to the bottom line and DCA needs some real original and freash ideas from a marketing standpoint if they expect more people to come IMO.

Its nice to have certain ideas and a wish list, but its NEVER going to happen anymore than having the bear anamitronics put on GRR (although I would like that more :)). Just isn't economically feasible for Disney and I rather see them put in NEW attractions to attract NEW fans, not a decades old ride that most people only did to kill time anyway ;).

Looking at animatronic animals sing and talk is different in 2005 than it was in 1972.

I feel the same about 'America Sings.' It was great in 1974 -- but it did not age very well.

Was that comment a joke that just really, really didn't work?

Or was it the one of the rudest, least intelligent posts I've read in four years on LP?

Certainly DCA needs new stuff, But at least the Bears would give DCA a little of the DL charm that is horribly missing.
