Rebekah, do you know how old Robison is? I know a couple guys who graduated Art Center's auto design program too, now they're bigwigs at Honda. Robison looks younger tho.

My husband is also an Art Center alum. Go Art Center! ;-)

I am impressed with the PoD system. I agree that it sure helps to not have a lot of undesired inventory hanging around. However, I have repeatedly asked at the Disneyland shops why they dont sell the iron-on transfers for the shirts, or make the sirts on-site for those of us who just dont FIT into a park T-shirt. They could creat these items via a PoD type system and I could get tthe shirt fixed up at my local shop, or if they had 5x and larger adult "blank" shirts, they could do it on-site. That way the guests...and americans are getting larger in girth yearly, could avhe the great attraction shirt designs when they go home, and Disney wouln't have to dump a bunch of t-shrts at the warehouse stores. Everybody would benifit! Wake up Mr. Pressler, Ms. Harris! You are missing a great opportunity here!

During the interview he talked about calling his family to tell them about his art being put on the popcorn buckets. When I told him people collected those, too, he near about fell out of his chair. His family with him at the event on Saturday. I saw them later in the day and a number of them were wearing the baseball cap that features his signature. It was neat to see that kind of family support.

And usmclass, I'd love to see them offer some merchandise in the 5X and 6X area. I'm waiting for the price of the Brother sewing machine that does the Mickey embroidery to come down in price so I can make the outfits myself for friends who are otherwise locked out of buying Disney clothing. I know they've started offering up to 3X maybe even 4X so perhaps they are realizing that more and more people who want Disney clothing need the larger sizes.

Oh Rebekah!! I will tell you all about it when we're there at the end of the month. My mother-in-law just bought it, and I spent all weekend at her house playing!! It comes loaded with classic characters, and she bought the disc that has 101 Dalmatians, Dumbo and Bambi. Tinkerbell is on it's way. You can also buy the Sulky thread in "Disney" colors so that you can match them exactly! I'm glad that she doesn't live too close by, or I would be her permanent house guest!

Visited the '100 Mickeys' exhibit at Disney Gallery yesterday, and I must say, I was pretty under-whelmed.

On the one hand, I liked the idea of printing out the picture of your choice -- neat idea. And affordable. And seeing that many Mickey Mouse pictures was fun -- and some of them were really quite interesting.

The problem was having the same artist do all 100. Eric Robison seems like a terrific guy and all, and has done some nice renderings and such, and other paintings in the Disney Gallery. His work is fine -- I don't begrudge him as a person or as an artist -- My big question is, is it worth the entire Disney gallery space? Of just his work? And when it comes right down to it, who the heck is Eric Robison?

It would have been a much more interesting concept had the Mickeys been created by famous and highly regarded architects/fashion designers/illustrators.

Imagine seeing Mickey Mouse creations from the likes of architects Frank Gehry, Michael Graves, Robert A.M. Stern, Rem Koolhaus -- or fashion designers like Donna Karan, Betsy Johnson, Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren, or even Hollywood celebrities.

More interesting to me -- and certainly more diverse.

After walking through gallery #3 in the All-Eric-Robison-All-the-Time, I was struck by the very Mickey Mouse prints. 4-5 copies were displayed to showcase the various print techniques - on canvas, on paper etc.] A really free, brush stroked Mickey Mouse face -- but in the lower right corner, the most obvious thing 'ERIC ROBISON' signature.

Sure, the artist gets to sign his work, I understand that.

But heck, I have some of those Herb Ryman prints from The Disney Gallery -- and some stretch room painting from Marc Davis -- they don't even appear to be signed -- let alone in such a grand, loud and LARGE manner.

I just don't get what the fuss is all about...
