The emphasis on photography or videography is on the camera itself, not the tripod. I do remember a discussion about what constitutes a "professional" camera. Maybe the change in tripod policy was also discussed then. I went to the security check-points to ask the CMs working there if they had heard of the new policy and all of the ones I spoke to acknowledged that tripods are OK and they have been letting them through. Bottom line, tripods=OK..."professional" cameras= Not OK.

I've often considered bringing a tripod to help get consistantly good pictures at night (it seems like only 1/3 of mine come out not blurry and the correct color balance with my camera), but most of them are just too bulky to carry around. Maybe one of those mini-tripods with the bendy legs that you can wrap around a fence or something...

Some of my favorite shots of the park that I've gotten were only possible thanks to that tripod. I was thinking about bringing it along this weekend as well since I've never done any holiday shots with it, which is why I clicked on this thread. Man, I would be sad if I couldn't have a tripod in DL. Mind you, mine fits nicely in one of the large lockers, so it's also not like it's something that I drag around all day either.
