You know which restaurants to dine at. You know which attractions to ride; which shows to catch. But whether it is your first trip or you're a regular visitor, why not take advantage of some of the small surprises the Resort has to offer. What you'll find here are many of the small items that are usually overlooked or not even known about by guests at the parks and hotels that make up the Disneyland Resort. These items were compiled from suggestions made by members of Laughing Place. If you have suggestions to add, email goodgirl@centurytel.net. q Have a churro q Stop at Main Street City Hall for a birthday sticker if it is your birthday. q Look at the Petrified Tree q Take the free Arts & Crafts Tour at the Grand Californian Hotel. q While in line for Peter Pan, watch the window above Snow White. You see the queen come out, but every once in a while it’s different. q Get to Disneyland early one day so you’re right by the rope at the end of Main Street for rope drop. When they finally drop the rope and let everyone in, dash ahead to the Partners statue. Turn around and be awed by the mass of people coming toward you. q Visit the play area next to Grizzly River Run, especially if you have small children. q Sit and watch the ducks in Rivers of America and imagine what it is like to live at Disneyland q Check out the little characters that are in the outdoor popcorn carts turning the popcorn. Each land and popcorn cart has a different one. q Request a third floor room at the Paradise Pier Hotel. You have a chance of getting poolside and will have a patio with chairs and such. q Eat a chocolate covered banana q Look in the window above Show White’s Scary Adventures q In the kitchen store on Main Street there is an old phone. Pick it up and listen. q Get a bread bowl with soup, chili or gumbo at one of the several restaurants that offer them on the menu. q Watch the flag ceremony at dusk in Town Square. q Get a Grand Californian standard view and request a courtyard view. The Monorail sounds like a whoosh of wind on a mountainside. q Go to the patio at the Disney Gallery. Stand at the balcony at the front, take in the beautiful view and snap a picture of the Mark Twain as it comes toward you. q Visit Tritons Garden q Touch the brass apple at the entrance to Snow White. q Look for the old witch in the cage at the Let Bat en Rouge in New Orleans Square and stare at her. She will talk to you. q In Flik’s Fun Fair, look for the four leaf clover. q Listen to the activity coming from the windows of New Orleans Square. q Don’t miss the feeding of the koi and the dancing waters show at the Disneyland Hotel. q Check out the interesting things in the bazaar store in Adventureland. q Ask politely to ride in the caboose on the Disneyland Railroad. q Check out the street performers in Downtown Disney at night. q Enjoy the Native American story time at the Grand Californian fireplace. q At the rope drop, dash ahead and be the first through the castle. You will feel just like Walt must have, strolling all alone through the archway of the castle in the morning. q At the Sun Plaza, watch the random patterns in the fountain. q Check out the memorabilia in the main building of the Disneyland Hotel. q Chill out with a glass of wine as you watch Season’s of the Vine. q Despite what everyone says, take time for the tortilla and bread tours. q Don’t miss Golden Dreams. q During the holidays, frost a cookie. q Enjoy a Dole Whip q Enter Disneyland through the left tunnel the first time through q Enter Disneyland through the right tunnel the second time through q Get a coke at Coke Corner, sit back and listen to Rod play the piano. q Get balcony tickets for the Fantasmic show prior to the fireworks and you can stay for them too. q Go on Pirates of the Caribbean on a weekday night. I'm always hoping someone will put together a sequel with more fun things to do. What does the queen do anyway?

But a step over a low gate and you're in. It really is a cool area, especially getting all the way down and behind the waterfall!
