Don't forget the Magazine is also now available to purchase from the Tokyo Disney Resort.

I'm delighted that you feel that Tales is a better product than D23. I must admit that most of the feedback I have received is along similar lines. Imitation is the kindest form of flattery and I'm delighted that Disney felt they needed to get into the high-end collectible magazine business. Time will tell if it was the right decision for them.

Take a look at some of the content on offer, Tales is focusing on bringing us exclusive art work from TDL attractions like the Castle Mystery Tour, while D23 on the other hand has pictures of Zac and Vennesa.

I'm just always fair (and blunt as you know!) when I post. I was shocked that more of the fanbois on that site (and they do skew younger, but still) weren't aware it existed. I'm sure if was sold at WDW that might put it in their sphere of consciousness, so to speak. And while I am not a subscriber, I do have a few issues of Tales here and have seen most of them and my opinion is it is the best publication for Disney fans going right now. I wish there were more ... competition is good ... but I don't think D23 really is. It's more of a glossy ad for everything TWDC wants to whore at a given time. I don't think there are any fans out there who don't know the story of Dave Smith and the archives ad nauseum by now ... and things like the Sleeping Beauty Castle walk-thru have been out for so long they are old as well ... the Tim Burton piece ... well, I have never seen such an interesting character made boring but that story did that (of course, the fact he had major 'issues' with Disney for much of his career but while working for/with Disney and after was ignored) ... honestly, the publication is all fluff and no substance. And to your (and Lindsay's and everyone who works on Tales) credit, no one can say Tales lacks substance. Of course, does TWDC really want its best most loyal fans to read about TDR for instance ... or any of the international resorts? My guess is not really. They want them buying DVCs, LE merchandise and spending weeks a year at WDW and/or DL. <<Imitation is the kindest form of flattery and I'm delighted that Disney felt they needed to get into the high-end collectible magazine business. Time will tell if it was the right decision for them.>> That's a nice way to put it. And I appreciate your situation. I firmly believe Tales 'inspired' the D23 fanzine. And I don't see this lasting for them unless they wake up and truly try and understand their fanbase. D23 is just a glossy Disney Magazine with less in depth writing. Not exactly breaking new ground here no matter how they spin it. So, unless someone at Disney decides to stop making it so easy for you to have the access you have, I don't see you having anything to worry about. ~Zenia as Publisher ... REALLY?!?!?~
