It is a party atmosphere with many families waving goodbye to Mickey and Minnie onboard. Many boats follow out to sea. When they return and announce the Hawaiian Cruises be sure to check the schedule. Of course that will be in 2012 or something like that. Start saving now...HaHa

How do I know all this? Because we were getting OFF the Disney Magic on Sunday morning after spending seven glorious days. That party up on Deck 9 is just the start...

I loved the Disney Cruise a few years ago. I had hoped to go this time with family but maybe next. That is why I say= start saving now! Did they announce any future Ca. plans? Like the Cruise ship going to Hawaii?

Yes, we have started saving for the next cruise! Haven't actually booked it, though. There were some intriguing hints about new itineraries. Here's what was shared. (Some of this is old news, I know.)

There are two new ships on the horizon. They will be fifty per cent larger than the Magic and Wonder. Captain Tom of the Magic has been to the shipyards in Germany and has been looking over the construction, just as he did with the DCL's first two ships. He said that the shipyard is larger and climate controlled, so the work is going much faster. He will take the new ships out on their inaugural cruises.

The Disney Vacation Club presentation included several broad hints. They pointed out that a new ship was being added in 2011. They also pointed out that the DVC was scheduled to open a Hawaiian Resort in 2011. Coincidence?

Most intriguing to me was a brief conversation I had with Captain Tom. The discussion centered on new itineraries (he said there had been many discussions), and where the new ships would be based. He, of course, was not making any announcements. (That should happen in October, apparently.) He agreed that the new ships would not presently clear the Panama Canal. (The Magic has just four inches to spare in each direction in certain locks.) But, the Canal is being remodeled to accommodate larger ships. When I asked if the new ships would be able to cruise to Alaska, Captain Tom immediately stated that the Disney Magic could cruise to Alaska tomorrow.

The consensus seems to be that when the two new ships are delivered, one will go to Florida, and one will go to the Mediterannean. The Magic would then go to the West Coast. There were also hints that the Magic could go to Japan. All of this, of course, is speculation. I guess we will have to wait until October...!

(I am going to place all this in a new thread just to discuss Cruise rumors!)

The Med Cruises are more expensive than the Mexico/Caribbean Cruises and a real pain for americans to get to. They did not really advertise them here as DCL is really marketted at the Americans, with P&O being heavily marketted in the UK with Cunard, followed by NCL and Royal Caribbean. The Italians, Spanish, Germans and Italian then have their preferred.

Now if I could find an exec role where I could use my knowledge of theme environments etc. I'd be a happy camper.
