Parties are not just about having free food and drink at the employer's expense, it is a moral builder and builds good feelings between the employer and the employees. Anyone who was at Disneyland/DCA yesterday evening and saw the hordes of people descending on Disneyland for the Halloween party, while DCA soaked up huge shoulder-to-shoulder crowds that even created lines for Little Mermaid and Bugs Land rides knows that TDA is lying through its teeth when it uses made-up lines about "changing guest patterns". Corporate Disney cancelled the employee Christmas party to cut the budget, that's all this is. Why they insist on lying to the employees about it, when those same employees work in the parks that are brought to their knees by paid-options like the Halloween parties, is a mystery. Someone in TDA's executive communications department must be very, very naive to think that type of bald-faced lie would actually be believed by the troops. They are either very stupid, or very unknowledgeable on how the parks work and what types of events they host.
